We made a mistake with Obama and Clinton
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 07:40 PM by itsrobert
Those two campaigns' actions these past several weeks have been disgusting. We should have gone for Edwards. Will we ever learn?

1. Edwards didn't win a single primary
He never went above 14%, I think. He was losing, so he dropped out. Honestly, this is getting bizarre with all these longing for Edwards posts. Feh.

29. So was Obama until he started filling venues in places no Democrat had before
At some point you have to make your own news.

4. Blah blah blah
Too late. I supported Edwards and he suspended his campaign. So that's the end. Support Obama, Clinton, or someone else. Just quit whining.

5. Well, Edwards is just as fine a choice as Clinton or Obama.
I don't think it was a mistake. He might consider being a running mate.

6. Should have. And you're wrong.
Edwards never caught on. It's not our fault he couldn't win a primary.

8. Yeah Edwards, the one who promised, who gave his word, and his word

means something 'cause it's personal to him, promised to "take it all the way to the convention!"

And then with the donation calls based on it- "john is committed to take it all the way to the convention and he needs your help. Please send in your donation today!"

you critasize Edwards for dropping out? Hillary just keeps going like the Energizer bunny and everyone hates her anymore.

20. That's because at least Edwards was campaigning for SOMETHING positive.
HRC's campaign has been a principle-and-vision free zone.

11. What a dumb post. You might as well say we should have went for Obama.
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 07:25 PM by maximusveritas
Or we should have went with Gore.

It's just fantasy. In reality, voters rejected Edwards. They've been split between Obama and Clinton. So we're stuck with them both fighting it out.

Even if Edwards won Iowa, he'd probably still be fighting it out with Clinton and maybe Obama as well. So that wouldn't change anything.

12. "Should have GONE." Should have GONE!!!!!
Not "should have went." PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!

But to the substance of the OP, my first choice was Al Gore. Dammit. I'm still pissed at him for not running!! My second choice was Edwards, but he never caught on. Now we're down to the last two people standing in this race. Sigh.

13. Actually, Al Gore should have swooped in like fucking Spider-Man after winning the Nobel Prize.
Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda.

That said, Barack Obama is an incredibly inspirational, once-in-a-lifetime candidate. And he's quite likely going to be not only our nominee, but also our next President.

I can live with that; in fact, I'm VERY excited about it.

19. I personally believe that the candidates with the most money,
and also the ones who attract the most media attention have the edge on anyone else running. Naturally, the first "female" candidate and a "black" candidate who looked to have a good chance of winning would naturally attract the most media attention. After that, the others never stood a chance.

I was hoping John Edwards would be the nominee because I thought he had the best policies.

Is there a better way to select a nominee?

24. Actually the mistake "we" made is supporting a primary process
that rewards trashing, denigrating and belittling your Democrat opponents. The candidates should have been attacking Bush, his minions and followers for where he took the country and explain what they would do to repair the damage and make the country better. Registered Democrats could then make a choice on who they thought would do the better job and the person who persuaded more people would have got the nomination and all the other candidates and their supporters would work towards getting them elected.

But, I must live in a fantasy world to think like that.
