It can look like it is painfully tedious, the continuous back and forth, flicking the lure through the air in great looping arcs, gently dropping the fly onto the water's surface only to repeat the process time and again. Yes, tedious and boring, but the real artist will know his prey better than they know themselves, he'll pass on the lesser fish to draw out the real prize lurking deep in the stream. Finally with enough patience and skill, the monster will rise from the depths, thinking it has found a tasty and vulnerable snack and strike. Then, too late, the trophy fish will realize there is a sturdy hook hidden in the carefully crafted lure, a sharp barb among the bright feathers and threads the wily angler has skillfully tied in order to attract and land his prey. The only question now is whether he is a catch-and-release purist, a trophy-on-the-wall sportsman, or will he follow the primal directive and eat what he brings home?
Don't know if Obama really set this trap, but it will be interesting to watch how he springs/plays it.
