Why would anyone steal Barack Obama's identity?

The passport file has ss number and other personal identification info. Several pundits have said this is identity theft.

But just how stupid do you have to be to think you can steal Obama's identity? And get away with it?

I, like you, can't imagine why anyone would want to steal the identities of any of the 3 candidates. Doesn't make sense.

However, examining the travel records of the candidates makes a lot of sense from a political perspective. Because perhaps they can gain info about one of them going somewhere that can be construed as shady. and having the SS numbers just gives them ways of finding out all kinds of stuff.

But stealing identities? That sounds like something hackers would do for fun. Takes the heat off of the political operatives.

with tons of travel info. and God knows what else is in the files, or what access getting into that file gets you into elsewhere, who knows. also, people could steal famous people's identity and use it for credit fraud over the net, if that's what they were doing, which I don't think they were doing, it was either for 'fun' or done to get information about him to use politically, so that the McCain attack squad has their dates right when they go after him.

True, hers was looked at during a training excercise, but only that one time back in August of 2007 and it was dealt with immediately.

But only Obama's and McCain's files were broken into in February.

Something smells really bad about Hillary's file being the only one they werent interested in.

diversion. if what they were doing was malicious, as it may/may not have been. but, it's unacceptable that it happened three times involving Obama.

24. I heard today that when Bill Clinton's passport file was illegally

accessed, the intruder was looking to see if he had disclaimed his citizenship while abroad....probably as a student. This person, and oh how I wish I could remember more, said there's lots in a passport file, particularly of those who have lived abroad. That's all I remember.
