Hillary accusing Obama of ABANDONING & SHUNNING Pennsylvania
Clinton Camp: Obama Abandoning Pennsylvania: The Clinton camp is spinning Obama's memo lowering expectations as a complete white flag, and suggesting that he is thereby giving up in a general election:

The Clinton campaign chastised Barack Obama this morning for what they said is his shunning of Pennsylvania, a state that the campaign argues a Democratic candidate needs to carry to win the general election.

On the call, according to Howard Wolfson, were a "great lineup of guests," including Governor Ed Rendell, who talked about "the Obama campaign's attempt to diminish the importance of the state" and Mayor Michael Nutter, who said he would "fire" a staffer who wrote a memo lowering expectations in Pennsylvania.

That reaction is in response to this:
"Obama Camp Downplays: The Obama camp is trying to avoid letting Pennsylvania become the focal point of the next six weeks. From their latest memo:

Now that Mississippi is behind us, we move on to the next ten contests. The Clinton Campaign would like to focus your attention only on Pennsylvania - a state in which they have already declared that they are "unbeatable." But Pennsylvania is only one of 10 remaining contests, each important in terms of allocating delegates and ultimately deciding who are nominee will be. Senator Obama campaigned in Pennsylvania yesterday and will do so again later this week, but he will also campaign aggressively in the other upcoming states - he will travel to other upcoming states in the very near future."

Or a staffer.

Either way, it shows that he's not slacking in his resposibilities.

I've written on several occassions, and he's been very considerate to type well formed and direct to my point responses. Nothing has ever seemed "canned" coming from him. Quite sincere, even when we didn't agree.

Hastert on the other hand, never once responded in all the times I wrote to him. No surprise. I contacted his office about it once, and was basically told that you can't expect him to respond to everything. When I told them Obama did, they just said he is very busy and will review it when he has time.

30. that actually means a lot to me
I am not as good as I should about writing to Congress, but so far Schumer's office has acknowledged things while Clinton's office hasn't.

39. Seriously?
I'm sorry to hear that. I know they get a lot of correspondence, but they do represent us after all. I am fine hearing from a representative of their office, but I appreciate the consideration Obama has given. Hastert won't be missed, that's for certain. The arrogance just seethed from him. I'm looking forward to having Foster represent us now that Hastert is gone :)

3. Thats kinda silly
since the state's primary is six weeks away. I live in Mississippi and I got sick of the two of them in just a few days. I'd suggest candidates kinda wait till closer to the actual day of voting to descend upon the populous like the locusts candidates are.

12. I've always said that
buy a minute or two every night on the local news. Do a issue or a back story (of a local for instance) every night. AND point out that you AREN'T running ads.

but then Dems have this really dumb practice of paying their political advisors (the ones ALREADY on their staff) a percentage of the media buy. Gee wonder what course of action they advise?

4. Hillary is losing so many states
that she just picks one that she has a good shot in and says "It is all about this state! This state is the most important won in America! If Obama can't win this one state, the fact that he has won more votes, more pledged delegates, more red states, more blue states, more swings states, more primaries and more caucuses MEANS NOTHING!!!"

Great strategy.

35. Just because more Dems voted for Hillary in the primary than for Obama in those states
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 04:01 PM by housewolf
does not mean that they will vote for McCain (or not vote at all) in the GE.

Odds are, most (but not all) of Hillary's voters in those states will vote for whoever the Dem candidate is.

Do you really think Obama couldn't win blue states such as NY and CA? where does such thinking come from?

33. Desperation Makes For Strange Argumentation
ONLY the states that Clinton won are the ones that are going to matter. And although they were all close contests, they wouldn't possibly turn for Obama in the GE (even though his support builds as voters get to know him better, while hers consistently diminishes).

37. What? Calif won't "turn" for Obama?
Or NY? Or MA?

Where DOES this thinking come from???

There is no more a guarantee that Clinton would win Ohio in the GE than Obama. The odds are that most (but not all) of Clinton's voters in Ohio (except for the Repub faux-Dem-voters) will vote for whoever the Dem candidate is rather than vote for McCain when it comes right down to it.
