Kerry Hits Back at White House, Defends Patriotism
Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, pointed out Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) and political adviser Karl Rove did not serve in the military.

"I'm tired of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney and a bunch of people who went out of their way to avoid their chance to serve when they had the chance," Kerry said. "I'm not going to listen to them talk to me about patriotism."

"I've seen how these people in the White House today, in their twisted sense of ethics and morality, don't think twice about challenging John McCain and what happened to him as a prisoner of war," he said in reference to attacks by President Bush (news - web sites) in 2000 on his Republican primary rival McCain, an Arizona senator.

1. Why is Kerry bringing up the Bush's smear of McCain in 2000?
Is it possible that Kerry wants a national unity ticket with a Republican McCain as his running mate?

Now I am beginning to wonder...

8. The Max Clelland case is a better illustration
of how a chickenhawk like that puke Saxbee was able to smear someone with the qualifications and war record of Clelland.

9. The reason why McCain is a better example:
McCain is a GOP icon, and respected outside the party, too. Yeah, Cleland was savaged by the scum moreso that McCain. But the McCain story just shows it's not about Dems vs GOPs; it's about "winning is everything."

11. Trent Lott and Pat Robertson did their share too
They spread stories that McCain was mentally unbalanced, particularly after McCain attacked the TV evangelists for preaching intolerance.

6. I was disgusted by that Rove smear too
. I am grasping at straws that Kerry will start doing things that make me happy instead of depressed. Remember back in the Dean days, when Dean would say something stupid and than the Dean bots would immediately post positions that make lefties happy? and or clarify Dean's position. He needs to hire their campaign people, because I am not on the same plain with him at all.

3. Maybe Kerry just sees the ugliness in a bunch of cowards dissing
people who actually had the courage to actually serve in the military and not go AWOL (or whatever you want to call it). And maybe he's just warning them not to try to do the same thing to him that they chickenshits did to McCain.

7. Way to go Kerry, show the Chickenshi?s for what they are. As for McCain
he's pointing out a pattern, not picking a running mate, that should be obvious.
