1. 46+? How old are you? Not to make light, but
what if my DU pal is 47 and I'm 74? Kind of a skewed poll, no? :D

12. that explains a lot, child
"Oh I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now."

And if you get the Dylan reference, you know I'm in the "old geezer" category.

81. Well the Obama break is usually
older than 45 (as is Obama, a baby boomer). In exit polls he often wins under 50, even under 60, even under 65...never 65 and older..

Not saying you should break down the older ages but I like it when exit polls do. Hillary definitely has the senior citizen vote.

I'm not mocking it. They are often a large minority of the vote and very faithful voters.

I just thought it would be interesting to see the demographics of those that support both candidates. Mainly because my theory would be that the most "mature" (whatever that means) would fall into that category.

9. 57, and I'm supporting Kucinich
I don't like either Clinton or Obama, and so I'm spending my time and money supporting true progressive candidates in winning seats in the House and Senate.

Yes, I'll hold my nose and vote for whoever wins the slugfest, but my heart won't be in it. I hope there is a deadlock at the convention and Gore is drafted. HE I could have some enthusiasm about.

19. Well I am
56 and supported Edwards from day one. I was sad when he left the race, and had not inteneded to support either of the remaining two. After some research, watching the debates between the two of them, and especially after Hillary showed me her true side, I have since decided that Obama would be the best of the two. I see him talking more about the poor, and taking America back from special interest groups, while Hillary sinks lower and lower into the dirty world of "negativity"!

I want talk on the "real" issues, and Obama seems to be the only one doing that now. All Hillary can do is use "fear and smear" to try and win, and I had enough of that kind of politics with the Bush gang of thieves and cutthroats! :grr:

Started with Gore. Ending with Obama. And every day ending with Obama becomes more a reality. I had a mild dislike for Hillary when this all started, and every day I loathe her just a little bit more. If she's the nominee this fall, it will be a choice between McBush and Bushette. And the only reason I'd vote for Bushette is because of Supreme Court nominees, if that still will mean anything at that point in our country.

I originally (and still do) supported Dennis Kucinich for President, and then John Edwards.

76. In every category Obama is winning handily....
From the looks of things in GD-P, I was given the impression that DU was split 50-50!!!
So what is the real ratio among DUers? Is it three to one for Obama or is this poll not indicative of how things are?

84. Clinton has more support among younger DUers
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 07:29 AM by Onlooker
Interesting, even though DU overwhelmingly supports Obama, this poll shows that DU members who support Clinton tend to be younger than DU members who support Obama. I wonder if it has to do with feminism.

25% of her supporters are under the age of 30.
17% of Obama's supporters are under the age of 30.

It's also interesting that most DUers are older. I wonder how many of its members are simply couch potatoes who do nothing but sit at the computer and wonder how many of the older members put up vitriolic posts.

89. Obama
Though, I supported Edwards from the start of this whole thing. After he dropped out, I did my research and decided that even though Obama is a mite too conservative for my taste, he's a better (and marginally more liberal) choice than Mrs. Clinton.

Her recent comments have told me that my choice was right.

Bettie.

Not that I normally kick polls but this one is quite illuminating. I refer to that 3-1 margin Senator Obama has over Senator Clinton. This is the DU where the average DUer has a bit more knowledge regarding what is actually going on in our government than the average American citizen.

96. With all the bruha, one would think that 50% split between the two.
Is it possible that of the DUers supporting these two candidates, 25% is for Senator Clinton and a whopping 75% is for Senator Obama? So why all the ruckus? DU appears to be coalescing behind the front-runner. Isn't that what we were calling for all along? My first choice was for Kooch, then Edwards and now Barrack. Until this recent spate of anti-party attacks by Senator Clinton, I would have gladly voted for her had she gotten the nomination. Now, I am thinking of not casting a vote for the President at all should she worm her way into the nomination. I AM SICK OF POLITICS AS USUAL. I join We The People in saying; "WE WANT CHANGE!!!"

95. Statistical Analysis: Age on DU does not correspond to candidate support
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 05:29 PM by Bucky
Obama supporters
< 20 = 3%
21-25 = 6%
26-30 = 9%
31-45 = 35%
46 + = 47%

Clinton supporters
< 20 = 6%
21-25 = 11%
26-30 = 7%
31-45 = 29%
46 + = 47%

I would suggest in future surveys combining the under 25ers into one group and splitting the 31-plus DUers into 3 groups. DU is older than your father's internet.

Not McCain, of course, but I'm very disenamored with both Clinton and Obama. I'm not a happy camper this campaign season. I wish they'd come up with someone completely different at the convention, that's how sick I am of this constant sniping.

And it wouldn't have made me feel any better if Clinton had dropped out earlier because I am not at all comfortable with Obama. I don't believe he will be half as good as his supporters seem to think he will be, and I think we're in for a huge disappointment...again. If he proves me wrong, then I will happily eat these words.
