Obama smacks down Clinton over Iraq war in Wyoming
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 05:55 PM by gabeana
Obama responds: "She doesn't have standing to question my position"

And so, Senator Clinton used this to try to imply that I wasn’t serious about bringing this war to an end. I just have to mention this because I don’t want anybody here to be confused.

I was opposed to this war in 2002. If it had been up to me we would have never been in this war. It was because of George Bush with an assist from Hillary Clinton and John McCain that we entered into this war. A war that should have never been authorized, a war that should have never been waged

6. Obama wasn't even there when the vote took place. He really
has very little room to talk. And I've yet to see him make a grand speech on the senate floor condemning the war. In fact, he voted to fund it. How is that different than Hillary? It's not.

18. Incorrect.
He's ran for president and has essentially won the nomination.

That's the action he's taken to end the war.

20. Has he spoken out against it on the senate floor? Did he vote against
funding the war? Nope. He has taken no action against it. None.

21. Sorry, he's voted against funding.
Last may. There was a big brouhaha over it.

He was one of only a few dems who did.

Maybe you should pay more attention, you'll look less foolish.

33. I take it, then, that you missed the whole "Hillary drove the bus into the ditch" analogy?
And now that the bus is in the ditch, the options are limited for getting it out.

31. Ummm.... Hillary voted for the war, supported it and the occupation for years, ...
... and, most recently, extended her triangulation and hawkish tendencies in support of war-mongering towards Iran with her "yes" vote on the Kyl-Lieberman amendment.

Obama is one of very few Democratic politicians who were out on the streets, with the protesters, speaking-out against the Iraq war. I suppose Howard Dean, Al Gore, Wes Clark (a Clinton supporter) and Paul Wellstone should all be similarly derided for their outspoken oppostion to the invasion of Iraq.

32. So what? Howard Dean wasn't there either.
And funding the troops is a far sight different than handing a blank check for war to chimpy. Obama, like Leahy and Kennedy and other unquestionably anti-Iraq war dems has voted for every piece of legislation mandating our withdrawal from Iraq. You bet your ass it's different. And look who's supporting Obama: The majority of Senate dems who voted against the Iraq war.

Does he really think voters are that dumb to not question his own voting record on Iraq?

27. because KBR is holding the troops hostage for $$? No funds = no water, no food, no ammo
Not much choice but to keep funding them once Hillary & McCain aided in the corporations taking them hostage. Gotta give them food, water and ammo until we pull them home.

And he's full of shit if he says he will end the war in 2009: "obviously it would be subject to decisions and the situation at the time."

23. obama had the same info as the rest of us outsiders, and ...
he could see (like us outsiders) that the iraq war was a mistake. He spoke out against it. Hil, with all her "experience" and senatorial know how, gave the assist (along with mccain) that chucklenuts needed to wage an illegal war/occupation.

Is that the "experience" she's trying to sell us...if it smells like snake oil and looks like snake oil, then...
