we are the ones keeping them on track and on their toes. Although I still feel bad that hillary got the monster jump and forced an unnecessary resignation.

40. And lets not forget, 10 days before TX
she had a big double digit lead.

That's the narrative we should be hearing about. Two variations of the story:

A) How did she manage to lost the big double digit lead?

B) How did all her millions of dollars of the "best" consultants get outsmarted and out-executed in Texas?

For a person who is making such a big deal about readiness to lead, she seem to have a lot of trouble with it.

75. why do you think there is an attractive young, dead college blond on MSM?
As sad and horrible as it is (a friend's daughter was a close friend of the UNC student), the coverage seems to be overboard. The fact that 8 Israelis and 120 Palestinians died in the last 4 days seems almost an afterthought.
Or that pandemics are about to start in Iraq because of no sewage systems, no potable water, and no meds or docs.

So, I can see why the campaign news would concentrate on the firing/resignation of Power, instead of Wolfson, or the changing numbers in California and Texas.

46. I agree... the media is kow towing to Hillary's....
...every whim. Anyone have any idea on why that might be?

Texas Democratic officials have said that Hillary wanted the Texas caucus
results stalled. So much so, that she threatened Texas officials that she
would sue if the results were released before they were certified. Every
single caucus result in this primary, has been released that evening--before
certification.

She could only pull off this delay with the media's cooperation. They played
her game, and allowed Clinton to position herself as a victorious uber-winner
with her visible celebrations. The media has barely mentioned the Texas caucus.

I also noticed that the media completely ignores Wyoming and Mississippi. They
talk about, "Pennsylvania the next contest" as if Wyoming and Mississippi do
not exist. Hillary would want those downplayed, because she knows she's going
to lose big time.

Why oh why is the media acting as Clinton's PR agency??????

68. Because she is the corporate candidate
She is beholden to the defense contractors that own the MSM. She is Rupert Murdoch's back pocket. She is the preferred corporate whore. Therefore, all good working people need to oppose her.

I am an Edwards supporter and was firmly ( I thought unshakable ambivalent between O and HRC). Now, it is clear the MONSTER prefers McCain to Obama so she will never get my vote. EVER. PERIOD.

The Obama bumper sticker will not replace my Edwards sticker--but it will go nicely along side it.

Fuck her.

84. What a timeless, priceless, perfect question:
Why oh why is the media acting as Clinton's PR agency??????

  • It's a business. In "Mass media/Communications", like any other business, King Profit Rules.

  • Plus, journalists are outnumbered. There are many more people working in PR!

I learned that back in 1985, in the one 'journalism' course I ever took, at the University of Minnesota. The prof. was a foreigner from eastern europe. Until then, I'd always naively assumed that some sort of higher, moral/civil responsibility to 'truth and fairness' guided editorial policy. (As opposed to what took place on the "other" side of the Iron Curtain, or in dictatorships, or banana republics, or other less fortunate societies.)

I'm afraid that it's one of the last myths of American Exceptionalism, that too many people still believe that our journalists are always 'doing their best, to tell the truth'.

They only do that when they have to, or when it coincides with their bottom line.

Just ask Mary Mapes, Dan Rather, Gary Webb, and too many other people whose names we -- unfortunately -- don't know!

... He won because it looks like he got more delegates than Hillary. I expected an article saying that somehow, a recount or something, has given Obama the majority of votes.

Had the headline been "Obama wins more TX delegates than Clinton" I could have made a better decision about what to read.

62. Headline aside, this is in NO WAY a "Bush v Gore style" win.
No supreme court, no lawsuits or recounts, no riots or delays or hanging chads or butterfly ballots.

Just the fact that it ain't over till the votes are counted.
And that means primary AND "caucus" votes.

The media did announce "victory" before the precinct conventions results were even reported, but they do that all the time.
They are clowns, and they treat us like children.

Everyone who knows politics knows this - it is about delegates.
Maybe it should always be about popular vote, electoral college should go away and there be no national convention at all - but that is not the reality of this election.

23. It's ALL about the delegates.
State wide totals for the candidates in primaries are meaningless numbers. There isn't a winner-take-all primary on the Democratic side. The MSM only reports that because it makes for more dramatic TV moments ("CNN has just called Texas for Hillary Clinton!!!").

But in this race, it's all about delegates. Sort of like the GE... in 2000 it would have been easy to "call" the US election for Gore... but it's not the popular vote that counts, it's the electoral college.

35. Doesn't have to be "clear about that"
Obama wins Texas. Period. Popular votes in primaries never mattered. Popular votes in districts and caucuses DO matter.

State wide totals should ALWAYS have been reported in terms of delegates won.

BTW, you do know that Texas Democratic party wanted to spend $66,000 so that the caucus results could have been reported early (they were known, but sat on, in a number of districts where HRC supporters ran the show in those districts). Guess who's surrogates shot down the "early reporting" idea... go on... guess.

She knew she was going to lose Texas.

Hillary wins the spin game in the early call of victory.
She also won the confetti game. It looked just like the National convention, didn't it? So there!

Delegates? Rules? Count all the votes before reporting?
Feh.

8. Obama did not win Texas - but because of the over allocation to black areas of delegates and the use
of a second round of caucuses that screw the working man - less than half the voters in the primary were allowed to give Obama extra delegates.

Since Obama can not win without the Superdelegates, it means little.

71. And Shrub didn't win in 2000
Our American democracy is not the tyranny of the majority. It never was and never will be. It is a republic designed with checks and balances so that a mere plurality of people can never exterminate the rights of others, arbitrarily deemed a minority.

In short, Texas can be viewed as a dress rehearsal for the 50 state electoral college circus in November.

The MONSTER is finished.

66. I think that is the crux of the problem - Tx IS counting...votes.
And as the votes in the precinct (and then county) come in, we will see who really WINS the most delegates.

If it turns out that Obama gets more delegates, then certain people will howl.
They have been busy trying to dismiss the state the last day or two, commensurate with their projected outcome, of course.

that's politics. Like sausage, sometimes.

32. It would seem that KO is no longer a favorite news source
for Hillarites...

All because he points out a number of truths about their candidate.

SHE is the one that called for "vetting" of Obama... but HE is Ken Star if he asked that her tax returns be made public.

SHE is the one that touts that McCain has "crossed the commander in chief threshold" but Obama has not.

HER campaign is the one that called the Canadian prime minister's chief of staff to tell the Canadian government to take the anti-NAFTA rhetoric with a "grain of salt".

65. Done.
Can't do a lot. But I can do a little.

And millions of people doing a little have been pretty impressive so far. :D

72. Good idea. Help him make the people of the up-coming races miserable with
his non-stop lame TV spots.

Thank god, the campaign has left Texas.

73. We need to email the MSM! If/when this gets real coverage, it will even be better for Obama than if
he had narrowly won the first day!

just like they did when they announced over and over that Shillary had won big.
