2006 Taxes WERE DUE (w/t extensions) 10/15/07- Confusing '06 w/t 07 due dates ain't gonna work!
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 03:29 PM by FrenchieCat
What is with this 4/15/08 bullshit that Hillary tells us is when she will release her tax returns? Her 2006 tax return were prepared and filed no later than 10/15/07...which is when all extensions expired.

Is she trying to confuse us by attempting to link her releasing 2006 tax returns with the due date for 2007 Tax returns?

Does she think we are stupid, or is she banking on it?

Obama has to say, "release 2006 and prior year returns"!

Obviously saying simply "tax returns" with no date is an open invitation for those who like to confuse us to do just that.

I call her out on her bullshit, and I'm writing letters to the press.

IT'S the 2006 taxes and prior years, we are asking for, HILLARY!

1. She must be hiding something big, otherwise why not just release them?
Why is she playing these games with the voters duty to vet our candidates?

2. Our question on this issue should be - why
The heck doesn't the Military-Induistrial Media outlets care enough about this to devote entire hours of news time to it??

Boy when Bill got a BJ, that is all we heard or saw, 24/7. Monica hugging Bill in the receiving line in the Rose garden.

And the media swiftboated Kerry to the point that we wondered if he ever even went to Vietnam ("So Sen Kerry, I have to ask you - you weren't even in Vietnam, were you Sir?" Jon Stewart - Oct 2004)

So why is the media so enamoured of their gal pal Hill that mum is the word?

26. I'm trying so hard to give her the benefit of the doubt
I've supported the Clintons for years and taken up for them time and time again, but this primary season continues to reveal things that blow my mind. I was sitting on the fence between the two but after her screaming tirade over the fliers, not only did I NOT feel guilty voting for Obama, I now find myself wondering what else is there that she's hiding.

7. Were you yelling and screaming about Edwards not releasing?
As of Jan. 30, 2008 when he dropped out, Edwards hadn't released his tax returns and said he wasn't sure he would. Biden didn't release his, Richardson didn't release his. The only Dem candidate, other than Obama, who released his returns was Chris Dodd.

Do you reserve the same amount of venom for all the other Dems who didn't release?

10. Of course she wasn't
it has NEVER been traditional or expected for candidates to release their tax returns prior to securing the nomination.

This is a totally trumped up issue.

23. They're poor compared to Al Gore
Did Gore do something wrong as well?

"Financial disclosure documents released before the 2000 election put the Gore family's net worth at $1 million to $2 million. After years of public service--and four kids needing high-priced educations--Al and Tipper used to fret occasionally about money. Not anymore. They have a new multimillion-dollar home in a tony section of Nashville and a family home in Virginia, and have recently bought a multimillion-dollar condo at the St. Regis condo/hotel in San Francisco. Available data indicate a net worth well in excess of $100 million."

25. Al Gore went into business.......
Bill Clinton's, apart from books, has been involved in Non profit Foundation and his library.....

and that other stuff, that no one is calling "business" in the strict sense of the word.

Bottomline is that we shouldn't have to guess or wait for 2006 tax returns, period.
Unless you are for secretive and hidden government.

22. She said she will release them April 15th, no?
But you are right, she didn't say which year. But she can't possibly assume we are that stupid and at this point I will take her at her word, that the 2006 and prior tax returns will be released April 15th. If they aren't she is clearly hiding something, Clinton supporters, no matter how smart or how insane, can't dispute that.

29. McCauliffe was just on Hardball giving the impression that 4/15
is the due date for a lot of people's returns, and as I mentioned in this op....implied that anyone was asking for her 2007 tax returns. Of course Chris Matthews let him slide.

It was disgusting.

Maybe that is why uneducated folks support Hillary Clinton. They can be fooled so easily. :eyes:

30. This must be the talking point sent from the Hillary camp....
to confuse the issue of releasing those 2006 and earlier tax returns.

No one is talking about 2007....yet there was a Hillary surrogate on Fucker's show, saying the same thing that MCauliffe said on Hardball.

Oh brother! Such deceitful folks on that campaign!

32. Perhaps she made another 10,000% profit she doesn't want us to know about
From Americablog:

The candidates preceding Hillary released their returns before they were the nominee. According to the Washington Post, "Sen. John F. Kerry released his returns in December 2003, long before winning the nomination; Vice President Al Gore's returns, of course, were already public." And Kucinich, Dean, Clark, Gephardt, and even evil Joe Lieberman released his returns.

Then there's Bill Clinton. In 1992, Bill Clinton made his tax returns public during the primaries. But, there was a catch. He didn't release his 1979 and 1978 tax returns. Those were the returns showing that Hillary had made a 10,000% cattle-futures profit that raised a few eyebrows.

So is that why Hillary isn't releasing her returns? Because she knows that sometimes tax returns hide things that might appear (or be) scandalous? But even that argument doesn't make sense since Hillary has promised to release her returns AFTER she becomes the nominee. That means that she has no privacy interest in her tax returns, she's going to let the public see them soon anyway, but she simply doesn't want Democratic voters to get the chance to have her tax returns inform their vote during the primaries.
