34. Why? She's making Dems into Repuke clones...
...at least in terms of political tactics.

So...you're solution to the 45% of the country that have stated in polls that they would not vote for her should go elsewhere? We're not welcome in "your" party unless we're willing to endorse win at all costs bullshit?

If Dean and the party leadership "think" like that, you might as well start talking about President McCain.

3. I'm not proud to be female -- I had nothing to do with it
I'm proud of my accomplishments.

If you weren't proud of being female before, I think that's sad.

I'd love to see a female President, but I want a Democratic President more than I want a female one ...
Hillary has only made sure that is less likely to happen.

87. Agreed!
> Hillary has only made sure that is less likely to happen.

A Clinton nomination will set-back the goal of a female president by decades. It is impossible for Hillary to beat ANY Republican candidate, but after she loses, all people will remember is: "Well, she lost because she's a woman. It's too risky to try that again...."

It is political suicide to nominate Hillary.

Hillary < any Republican = stacked SCOTUS.

I'm not sure a longsuffering enabler of a philandering husband is all that empowering to women, in the long run.
I see it as either an acceptance of her "role" as submissive wife, or her political will to ignore it for her career goals.

either way, I don't see her as a reason to be proud of womanhood.

because of their race. Are you?

The fact that she touts this as an "accomplishment" worth noting and with the same breath can discount Black votes as "not important" is the problem that I have with her, amongs others.

You can talk about me personally if that gives you your cheap thrills, but I'm not running for President, Hillary Clinton is.

I never understood why folks here aren't allowed to say anything about Hillary Clinton, a political figure, on a political board.....but Hillary supporters think that it is OK to assail other DUers simply for expressing their point of view.

So you need to address them, not me.

That's part of the problem, in my view.....how Obama supporters tend to be mushed together for the sake of expediency and name calling purposes. Although I did this in my post that you responded to, I normally try not to. So in this case, I apologize for saying "Hillary supporters"...as normally I would state "some" Hillary supporters, such as the one who I was responding to.

50. Whatever floats your boat.
I'm a woman too and neither she NOR her supporters pushing the woman angle make me proud to be a woman. Many of you are literally making a mockery out of gender issues. I've never seen so much baseless criticism in my life from people using gender to attack. I've seen "sexism" used as a *weapon* by Clinton supporters. It's inexcusable.

Ya'll go high five each other but there is nothing to be proud of. Hillary doesn't represent the best in women. Not by a long shot. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say she is a *bad* representative of the type of leader a woman could be. She's polarizing. She's out of touch with her true self and that's a damn shame because there is nothing as extraordinary as a woman who taps into the power of her soul. She's a ruthless business woman. She's a dime a dozen.

Her supporters frighten me in the same way Bush supporters frighten me. Open your eyes.

78. You're making a mockery out of *real* gender issues like sexism.
Let me try to find an example... oh, hey, here's one: the very first line of your retort!! "I'm sorry you are so down on women." Wouldn't expect anything more than that kind of bullshit gender bomb from someone who would post an OP like yours.

The word "sexism" is being thrown around here as a tool and a wedge issue. It's beeing *used* as a weapon to fight and attack Obama supporters. I've seen Obama and his supporters be accused of being sexist for using words like frustrated, unhinged, etc.

But you go ahead and be proud of Hillary. That's fine. I was just voicing my disagreement because you're the one who said "as a woman"....and I'm a woman too and she doesn't make me proud at all.

94. Classy?
Not really, unless you refer to the quality and style of her clothes. Here is an example of her "class" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk1k0nUWEQg I would characterize it as shameless and self-serving backstabbing, but to each his own....

101. As a female, I have achieved the same educational background
as Hillary. I have never sought public office, and neither do I care to. I have one child. I did have a philandering husband, and we parted ways. I did not feel the need to play victim to his Romeo ideas. And I lost all respect for Hillary for not leaving her husband after he left office. Especially after her boast of not being some little women standing by her man. That was her first major prime time effort at arrogance.

Neither do I feel any need to sacrifice my country on the altar of "womanhood" to somehow pay women back for any perceived or actual victimhood. I am quite sure that the blacks could make the same argument about Obama, and they should not make it. I would also feel that they were playing the victim card. Why be "proud" of being a victim?

No one should be proud of being considered a victim.

104. I don't get that either.
I can't believe so many women honestly believe that they will experience vicarious equality and/or vengeance for wrongs they have suffered through the elevation of Hillary Clinton to the POTUS. They will be sadly disappointed when the world abruptly returns to the same state it was prior the great catalyst of feminism they think her election will be.

105. That's like saying Bush makes me proud to be a man!
ehhhh!! Even writing that sentence gave me a bad feeling. Okay, maybe not as bad as saying that, but Hillary is not the most honest person I'd want to represent me if I was a woman. She is not the first woman president I would want either.

107. Being proud of being a certain gender is dumb
it's like being proud of being right handed, or proud of being 6 feet tall. People should be judged on their individual merit. That's what so great about Obama's candidacy, we're finally moving away from outdated notions of gender and race. Let's consign all of that divisive garbage to the broom closet of history. The past will officially end when Obama gets elected. Here's to that date. But until then, being proud of being female is about as stupid a thing to be as being proud to be white or being proud to have been born in Barstow.
