Should a Democrat call for George W Bush's impeachment?
Of course, that's an extreme suggestion, but if 9/11 had occurred on Clinton's watch and Clarke had given an interview on 60 Minutes identical to the one I just watched, the Republicans would have had a call for impeachment ready, at the latest, by 11 pm EST. Just as we were counseled not to push the WMD issue ("they'll find them--honest--and then we'll look like, uh, extremists or something"), we'll be counseled not to push too hard on this because we'll look like, uh, extremists or something. Sometimes, whether one likes it or not, there's a time to take extreme positions. This is one of those occasions.

Bush is an illegitimate President whose incompetence and lies have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans and thousands more Afghani and Iraqi civilians. Even though Ken Starr would disagree, sounds impeachable to me.

1. I want him gone, but...
I think impeachment is the wrong thing. It is a divisive issue that gives the pubs a rallying point. Since they control congress, it is unlikely it will go anywhere. Plus, you run the risk, as is happening here in Korea, that it could backfire. In Korea the GNP voted to impeach Roh and Roh's popularity soared (his numbers were as low as 10%). It backfired so badly that the Uri Party will now likely be the new majority party.

11. Needs to be somebody in the house...
Senators can't call for impeachment, well at least they can file the formal procedures.

without the dark side doing it, it's a no-go.

Impeach the bastard in November.

5. They imeached Clinton for getting his ---- ------
and lying about it, so I don't think that impeaching bush for killing thousands and lying about why is extreme at all. Clearly, it wouldn't work, but yes, it should at the very least be suggested.

6. Yes.
That will bring allegations of treason, and whoever it is will be asked to back up his claims with facts. Then the facts will be provided. Then the Repubicans will be put in the unenviable position of saying "well, yes, that is bad, but he shouldn't be impeached for it". They will be conceding points to us for a change.

9. If they steal the election again, it goes way beyond impeachment.
try civil war. Not that I'm advocating it, but it beats fascism.

8. ALL Democrats should have called for his impeachment on 9-12-01
Better yet, they should have never let the unelected bastard into the White House to begin with.

10. I think a Censure would be an equally damning and more doable plea
It would be a black eye.

12. No. It would only increase that moron's popularity.
It might feel good to angry Dems but it would backfire and cost us.
