Save us Al Gore ... John Edwards ....
get this party back to where it should be - addressing the real issues of most of us care about and need the 'grown ups' to address, lest we and our children lose our futures. I don't care who has more commercials on TV, whose flyer lands in my mailbox, or who the latest 'cool' person of the day endorsed ... it's getting ridiculous.

I am tired of the whole Obamamania (complete with fainting fans, rabid supporters, and celebrity worshippers) vs Hillary (can't do anything right re campaigning) slugfest. Neither pretty words or the DLC have done much for me or most Americans lately.

Show me the beef! Get the 'grown ups' back in the game.

But no. Just... no. No white knights.

If they were in the running, there's be shit flying through this forum about them just as it is now.

7. I never understood
why Edwards supporters put him up on such a pedestal. Close to Obamamania if you ask me.

And Gore... the Gore-worship that goes on... I dunno, I don't worship any of them (including Obama, although I intend to vote for him). I guess I consider all of them human beings. Maybe I'm just crabby because I'm home on a Saturday night. :nopity:

15. I don't worship anyone, least of all politicians. I do however, have great respect for Gore and
Edwards. I think they truly do "get it" in terms of the environment and poverty in this Country and World wide. I don't think they are in this for themselves, but for all of us. Just my $.02 worth.

4. What the hell has John Edwards done to be considered a grown up?
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 09:07 PM by NJSecularist
He has won 1 primary the last 2 elections.

Give me a freaking break.

It's just amazing to me how much undeserved praise he gets. He may be even more DLC than Hillary.

21. Save us from the fainting Obamamaniacs and same old Clintonites
is more the point ... big word don't bring about big change ... especially when rendered by political players like Obama or Clinton. As much as his/her worshipers might like to believe they are 'different' they have spent their lives planning for this day --- a prep schooled multiracial candidate who he believes will be palatable to white voters and an upper middle class white woman.

Fact is neither will bring about the type of radical change needed to better the lives of average Americans or the world.

23. my fantasy is that Al Gore planned this all along . . .
that somehow he knew that Clinton and Obama would butcher each other, and that neither would have enought delegates to cop the nomination . . . and that he'd ride in on his white horse, Edwards by his side, and tell the assembled multitude that yes, he'd accept their draft, if only to draw the appropriate attention to the environment and global warming . . . and to beat the snot out of McCain . . .

what? . . . I can dream, can't I? . . .

24. No. Just flat no. I don't need to saved. I think it's sad that
you feel you have to have saviors. Politicians are not saviors. They can be good leaders. Big difference. And guess what? When they ran, both Edwards and Gore ran ads and sought endorsements. And the Edwardians here cheered all that on, just like supporters of other candidates.

Fortunately, this absurd proposition will NEVER come to pass. Good thing for me, because I wouldn't vote for a candidate installed by party insiders.

YOU are the one engaging in political adulation in an extreme form. I find it a bit stomach churning.

Oh yeah. And the beef is there for anyone who's not completely myopic and engaged in your sort of hero worship.

Screw the idea of Gore and Edwards.
