How would you reform the democratic primary system?
This year we are stuck with the crazy system that we have...if you could write the rules, how would you change them for 2012...or 2016?

1. Only let Democrats vote for our Democratic nominee, for one.
Closed primaries ONLY.

26. What about independent voters? There are lots of voters
who identify themselves as such and are not republicans switching back and forth.

A States voting on the same day.

5. Closed Primaries
I will not donate anymore money until they have closed primaries.
I have nothing against Independents but they can vote in the GE.
It is the grassroots and the base that do the work all year long to build up the party.
We shouldn't have anyone playing mischief with our primaries.
As a Floridian I resent the fact that my vote isn't going to count, because of a GOP COUPE but Independents & pubs are.

17. I am on your side! I am frankly tired of Iowa deciding, and now republicans...
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 07:33 PM by cd3dem
Our rules and party leaders are so dang stupid, we would cut off our heads if the rules said we had to!

Oh, my vote is you get seated 100%!

20. In addition to simplifying the process, it would be one hell of allot more...
cost effective as well. Enough spending millions of dollars on Primaries, get them over quickly and pailessly.... Don't know about the rest of you, but I am so sick of these Primaries right now I could puke.... And the amount of money involved is absurd.

7. If I had a nickel for everytime I've heard a Republican say that in the last 8 years...
I'd be a wealthy woman.

Did you forget to post this pic with your post?

14. How about less pissing and moaning from the winners?
From all the whining in Obamanation, you'd think he was losing, not walking away with the nomination. I've never seen such discontent among people so fortunate.

9. Closed primaries, close together, no caucuses
We didn't even get a chance to vote for the ones who best represented this party's ideals in our opinion.

12. Gee, I think I'd let the STATES decide
For god's sake, leave it alone. We're not gonna have a national primary process and there's no way we are gonna all march in lockstep.

Florida and Michigan were trying to decide on their own....

Is there no way to make it more equitable?

23. Ok as far as timing goes I agree that there should be a limit on how early
because none of us wants to be seeing campaigns running during the Christmas season. Other than that however, I'd prefer to let the states do their own thing.
