5. To me, a bit reminiscent of the passion Biden used to show when speaking
of our troops and vets.

but everyone is a sucker for the glib phrase, and that that trumps doing actual research.

It is amazing to me what many here will conveniently overlook in the name of winning a contest.

BTW, I listened to the speech. A boilerplate speech with the pre-requisite number of "specifics", 75% of which will never be enacted.

The same speech as every candidate since time began has delivered, only this time delivered with panache.

Jeebus H. Christ people, fucking Bush ran on getting rid of politics as usual. EVERYBODY does. Clinton is, and she is the poster child for "same old same old."

And now we're fucking cheering when someone promises to reach out to Republicans? Anybody here been awake for the last (almost) 8 years? You know, the same "approachable" folks who have stuck a shiv in you for all those years? Yea, they're all gonna be lining up for a group hug as soon as The Big O takes his hand off the bible. And you BELIEVE it?? Could you please buy my house for 10x its worth - I could use the money, and it comes with a free hug and a promise to get along.

How far we have fallen when style trumps substance to this degree.

It really isn't a political message board anymore, is it?

It's a cheering section.

12. It was...also loved the way he gathered himself up right away
and stormed through the "I will end this war" portion of the speech.

Brought the house down.

17. Obama appeared truly moved - for one second choking up - IMO, showing sincere empathy for ...
the pain of this family and other people who have lost loved ones and friends in this senseless war.

Obama is "The Genuine Article." :patriot:
