I went to my first delegates meeting this weekend
It was exciting in the sense that it was a first for me, but a bit dry as far as eventful. It was mostly about what was to be included on the state platform. It was 4 1/2 hours long and I thought I was going to keep over by 1:00 in the afternoon, LOL!

What was exciting was a show of hands at how many were attending the meeting and signed up to do so during the primary for the first time. There were GREAT NUMBERS involved for the first time!!! And I was one of them. I saw several people I have been acquainted with over the past 25 years and stopped to chat with each one and this was a first for each one of them. The story was pretty much a repeat for each one, that they were angry with Bush or the job he has done, or with some aspect of what he has befallen this country. Some teachers, some unemployed, some just first time Democrats, and some Independents or angry Republicans turned Democrat until Bush is turned out of office.

I am very encouraged by the process and I'm hopeful about the general election. In the meantime I intend to keep in touch with what is going on and will not likely let my blinders down again like I did before Bush was chosen by our Justices on the Supreme Court and his brother and Katherine Harris in Florida.

I am counting on this website to keep me informed as well. So far I have been impressed with the interest and vigor here.

5. I went to a Kerry function recently and had the same experience
about the number of newcomers to the process. I've been a few years in to it myself, but that is so cool to see so many new people come along.
