1. Nobody cares about Edwards endorsement anymore
He's yesterday's news.

I doubt he will have any effect on upcoming voters.

I care. But if he endorses either, I'll be very disappointed
in Edwards; neither candidate can hold a candle to his 2008
ideals and platform.

27. Are you saying, Obama won't accept John Edwards Endorsement?
I was sure he and Edwards were bonded. They attack Hillary like a tag-team. Are you just speculating? I think an Edwards Endorsement would definitely help him for health care. Sadly, Elizabeth's disease parallels the Obama's loss with his mother.

29. I respect John
I think he was good for this party.

But I'm being honest and saying that I don't think Edwards endorsement will mean much - regardless of whom he endorses - at this point. He had a chance a few days after he dropped out, now he has been pretty much been forgotten by everybody but his most ardent supporters, who are likely (or have) to write his name in on the ballot.

31. I'd give him a break.....
We have no control over a terminal disease and I only sense Elizabeth is ill. It could of been the strain of the campaign work and/or she picked-up the flu which caused a relapse?????

I'd give him some space...He has earned it.

And with all due respect, we don't know whether or not that was the reason for Edwards dropping out.

If it was, then he had a good reason to drop out and wait a few days, but we don't know enough about it, we can only speculate, and I'm not going to speculate about Elizabeth...

39. I hadn't heard Elizabeth Edwards was doing badly - is this conjecture
She has a really tough diagnosis, but many of the experts argued that, though it was uncurable, it was treatable and she could survive with good quality of live for a long time.

Speculating, if there is no information, could hurt people.

Obama on Edwards: 'I Want Him Involved and Partnering With Me"...but for VP?

February 13, 2008 10:26 PM

snip//

Obama has been actively courting Edwards' endorsement, and has indicated the two talk regularly on the phone. A face-to-face meeting between the former rivals for the Democratic nomination was scheduled for Monday night in North Carolina, but was abruptly canceled same day.

"It will be rescheduled. We're gonna make it happen," Obama said of the meeting on Monday.

Edwards has been very complimentary of Obama while out on the trail, and quickly came to his defense when he was criticized by Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. During a campaign stop in South Carolina last month, when he was still in the race, Edwards joked about an Obama-Edwards ticket saying, "I'm running for the Democratic nomination. I think maybe he should be running for my VP."

Hillary Clinton met with John Edwards last Thursday, and has similarly said she would have Edwards involved in anything she does in the White House.

If Edwards meets with Obama "after" he met with Hillary....and then endorses him shortly after, it follows what I said.

Thanks.

32. It's too late to make much difference
If Edwards endorses Obama, it just looks like he is jumping on the Obama Bandwagon.

Then Hillary will say they are "piling on" and women voters will come back to her.

Now Joe Biden - there's an endorsement I would be interested to hear.

At least Biden has served in the Senate at the same time as Obama.

Any endorsement after Feb. is just to keep a name in the limelight to me. Same goes for any Clinton endorsements coming now. It's just to late.

48. Edwards endorsement will matter to about 25% of his former supporters.
Half of his supporters have already picked either Obama or Hillary to back. About 1/4 are still holding out for John or nothing, and about 1/4 will probably be impacted by his endorsement.

Rough numbers, and strictly guesstimates.
