Is It Time To Absorb GD: 2004 Back Into General Discussion?
Now that the dust has begun to settle on the primary process, and the major candidate battles are over, is it time to put the campaign into the context of the general state of affairs?

There certainly was good reason to separate this discussion into a separate forum, but I think it is safe to say that General Discussion and Politics and Campaigns can adequately cover what remains.

1. Nope
I believe this forum covers all campaigns now. GD is for the other stuff.

5. Kucinich shaped the debate more than some realize.

DK is very friendly with Kerry and has become pretty close with Teresa and Chris Heinz. They are more alike than people acknowledge.

The debates never allowed those similarities to be seen. But, the actual campaign trail tells a different story of candidates who respect each other and agree on many points.

3. No -- this form should be GD:Fight Club
It's for those of us who enjoy the juxtaposition of intellectual exhiliration and constant flame fests.

DrFunkenstein, have you been donating to the Bonesman??? Kerry!!!

4. nooooo, we need it for vp talk, and other things
which seem to keep coming up and would made the gd forum crowded again as it was during the primary before this new forum. the time to shut down this 2004 forum will probably be when it just isn't used much anymore. but i like having a separate forum which mostly is about strategies and other campaign ideas.

8. quality vs. quantity
there's not enough on those angles to justify its own forum.

However, I think you'd find that kind of stuff welcome in GD & probably get a better quality of discussion.

11. how about after the vp is picked ?
then we tie it in all together ? because i just think if we did it now the gd forum will mostly be threads about possible vp choices.

6. YES
I don't see how we can talk about this campaign as something seperate from everything else that's going on in the world. At this point, everything is tied to the campaign & the campaign is tied to everything.

7. Not quite
At some point it should be folded into Politics and Campaigns. I actually kinda like what GD regular has become w/o the candidate stuff. Threads stay longer, are broader in focus, etc.

10. GD has "become"...
what it was before a 10-man primary race entered the picture. Now it's down to two, the topics are more focused & directly tied in with the rest of the world. I wouldn't worry too much about the quality going down. GE talk has already seaped into GD & we'd get some great insights from all the people who won't set foot in this forum on its reputation alone.

9. No.
I enjoy having my campaign politics seperate from general politics.

It's really better this way.

12. agree
just rename it Campaign 04 or Beat Bush or Kerry/Clark (heh heh)

combining in GD forum would just cause threads to disappear too fast and not be seen.

13. Polls and strategy
During the summer, there will be 17 polls to analyze probably weekly in all the battleground states.

There will be constant discussions about electoral calculus about how best to get to 270 and which states to spend money in and which states to write off.

Things are a little slow now, but they'll get busy soon.

14. maybe and maybe not
i kind of like the idea that GD has more of an issues and current events focus and GD Priomary lets me focus on campaign related topics ...

and, is there really any benefit to having everything on one board ?? i like moving back and forth to follow the latest discussions ... when i get "campaign fatigue", i can hang out in GD ...

i wouldn't be opposed to rejoining the two, but i don't see any great reason to do it either ...

18. I don't know why you're worrried about it
You're allowed now to post anything about Kerry you wish on GE, from what I've seen.

It's only Dennis we aren't allowed to post about there.

So, have at it, if it concerns you that much.

Kanary

Another Delusional Diehard for Dennis!!

Kucinich 2004!
