Kerry: GOP Critics 'Crooked, Lying Group'
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=703&e=2&u=/ap/20040310/ap_on_el_pr/kerry

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) on Wednesday called for deeper tax cuts for the middle class than proposed by President Bush (news - web sites) and described his Republican critics as "the most crooked ... lying group I've ever seen."

After urging labor leaders to support his campaign to oust the president, Kerry was meeting with former rival Howard Dean (news - web sites) to discuss a possible endorsement and what role the former Vermont governor might play in his campaign. Kerry was scheduled to meet with another key rival, John Edwards (news - web sites), on Thursday.

Anticipating their meeting, the Bush campaign issued "Howard Dean's Greatest Hits on John Kerry," a 10-item recounting of Dean criticism of his rival for the nomination. The quotes from news stories include Dean's statement in January that "you're not going to change America by nominating somebody who's a Washington insider whose biggest long suit is talk."

Kerry had 1,985 delegates after sweeping four Southern primaries Tuesday, an Associated Press analysis showed. He wasn't expected to reach 2,162, the number needed to secure the nomination, until later this month because of the way the party allocates delegates.

2. Es bueno!
Don't let the GOP do the talking. You keep doing the talking. If the best retort they can come up with is the Dean primary campaign's criticisms, Bush is in bigger trouble than I thought.

It has the advantage of being true, of course, which will give it even more weight. Many millions feel this already in their hearts, and need to hear it said by someone of stature and power, to give them confidence in expressing it themselves, and the feeling they are not alone in feeling as they do, or foolish in the conclusion they have drawn.

Accusations of crookedness and lies play not only to us leftists, but to many in the center, and even the center right. Many of these persons vote against the left as a duty to larger conceptions like country and faith, and feel a thrill of self-denying virtue when they do so. The element of betrayal and disrespect they feel when they can clearly see the political figures they have sacrificed for are base cheats and profiteering tricksters easily turns to outrage and disgust.

"Desperate men do desperate things, and stupid men do stupid things. We are in for a desperately stupid summer."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

4. Exactly. This is how BushInc. SHOULD be defined
because the public is ready to hear it. Bush shows no real character in his resume or his governance.

9. That's an excellent idea.
You should send to Kerry.

Announce that every day there will be a press release that starts with A Bush Lie For The Day.

There will never be a shortage of material, and the press and public will know to expect it everyday.

6. "the most crooked ... lying group I've ever seen."
Although I did not support JK in the primary, it's truths like this that make me warm up to him.

He's got my vote already. Keep this up and he'll get more and more...

I hope he repeats this as often as possible.

We on DU already know this, but john Q public does not...

12. I just saw the clip on Inside Politics
Way to go Kerry! :bounce: I'm not sure he knew it was going to picked up by the mike, but he responded with this to a supporter.

It reassures me that he knows what he is up against it. I'm liking Kerry more each day.
