Romney drops out because "I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror"

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/AP_Romney_to_suspend_his_presidential_0207.html

In a speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney said in a speech, excerpts of which were first published by the Associated Press.

Well perhaps now that he isn't running, Mitt's 5 sons now have the time to enlist in this war and help stop terrorism

9. He has a point
Pugs can start putting all their money and efforts into promoting McInsane, while we continue to duke it out with no definitive, clear choice for a candidate.

IMO, this whole drawn out caucus/primary stuff is crap. Back in the day when there was no such thing as instant media information, it may have made sense. In 2008, it's nothing more than a media tool.

10. Then it would've been fair
to say he wants to help Republicans win the White House.

To frame it as a heroic self-sacrifice in the war on terror was just astoundingly brazen.

16. I disagree with that
A hotly contested race in the primaries can do alot of good. Obama and Clinton are both getting amazing exposure and their debates are getting great ratings on TV.

In 2002, the Bob Casey Jr. people tried to use that excuse when Ed Rendell opposed him in the democratic primary. But I think from all the time & money spent during the primaries provided so much exposure that ultimate it propelled the winner, Ed Rendell, into an extremely easy victory.

You go into the convention with the winner and your convention turns into a snorefest. I think this race is getting people excited because first, it's historic - we will have either an African American Man or a Female running as the presidental candidate in a major party for the first time.

Keep the momentum going!

17. Yes - that is correct
Because, you know, terrorists have some sort of pool going on to see who the winner is and what kind of havoc they'll wreck depending on which candidate wins

25. Worst. Presidential Candidate. Ever.
He was the most dispicable man ever to run for office. I say this knowing my history of presidential elections very well. This is a bad bad bad bad bad man. Worse morally than Nixon, Reagan, and even Bush. I really mean it. Romney is a wretched human being. Even Reagan and Bush never got into immigrant hating for political expediency.

29. Wow, Rudy Giuliani really did run an unmemorable campaign
if you're voting for Mitt as the worst candidate ever. My vote is still for Giuliani - he had that nomination sewn up over a year ago and yet Ron Paul performed better than he did.
