Obama Supporters, Do You Want Obama to Win?

Let's face it, he won yesterday. But the nomination is not certain. He does not just need to win the upcoming states, he needs to win them DECISIVELY to be guaranteed the nomination.

Obama's strength is his grassroots organization. Without that, he's not going to make it. It's that simple. It is we-the-people vs. them-the-establishment.

He needs the help of each and every one if his supporters.

This is particularly important if you live in, or can get to, one of the upcoming states. Canvassing is the single most effective way of influencing votes. What's more, it's fun! How great is it to be invited into a stranger's home to discuss politics? I'm a shy person IRL, but even I love canvassing!

If you don't live in one of the upcoming states, please consider phone-banking. Obama's website couldn't make it easier.

Which states are you near? I think that the options for phonebanking right now are restricted to Washington and Virginia, if you want to go through the website. But lots of local groups are organizing their own phone-banking for the other states.

I'm in Philly and right now it's ballot petition time for us. After that, it's on to door-to-door voter registration drives.

Today, however, I rest. lol.

My state is finished, but I have spent a great deal of time on GOTV, advertising & PR here in my corner of the state.

With VA only about an hour away, we're going to be focusing on bolstering an already strong staff on the ground in that state.

To put his records in perspective, consider Tuesday's primary electorate. The candidates split about 14.6 million voters in 22 states. Obama's donors equal a striking 9 percent of his Super Tuesday turnout. Add the non-donor supporters that Obama has engaged, from office volunteers and decentralized phone bankers to the unprecedented 1.13 million people publicly declaring their endorsements on social networking sites, and over one out of ten Obama voters are essentially activists. That is a historic development for a presidential campaign. It means that a large share of Obama's base will not merely vote for him once, but repeatedly devote time, money, social capital and personal credibility to back his candidacy.

No one knows how much of this network can be scaled in a general election. But in primary politics, there is a term for the person who manages to draw the most voters, donors, money and committed activists: The most electable candidate.
