Hear me out (I say this a lot lately). :)

He's going to be the nominee, of course he's going to be the nominee, and of course we're all gonna vote for him instead of Bush in November, right?

So what's the sense of letting the other side have more evidence of that?

Maybe a Kucinich win (or another Edwards or Dean win) somewhere will start some talking heads going on about a "lack of party unity", or some other such nonsense. How could that do anything but divert GOP resources from their current task of beating up on Kerry?

We know it's going to come down to Bush and Kerry, and we know there ain't a Dem in the land that'll vote for Dubya.

1. I have already come
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 03:33 PM by MASSAFRA
to the conclusion that I will vote for Dennis Kucinich in my primary. Since Pennsylvania will not figure into the nomination process. Come November I will vote for Kerry, but it would be nice if Kucinich had some delegates and was able to influence the party platform.

5. I'm in Florida
Thinking I should keep my vote for Kerry, but would like to vote Kucinich. Anyone else voting for Dennis in Florida?

9. The point is, now you can TRULY vote your conscience.
Kerry has won enough delegates to get him the nomination, so you can vote to give a voice to your favorite candidate.

I was able to vote Kucinich in the AZ primary. I had to be reasonably certain that a candidate I opposed would not win AZ; if there had been a chance, I would have voted for John Kerry. Fortunately, I was able to cast my vote for a marginally superior candidate.

The more votes the also-rans get, the more voice they will have at the convention.

Vote your consciencs now, then in November, vote s**t-for-brains back to Crawford!

I see this as one of the few win-win GEs I've ever experienced after over 20 years of voting, and I'm a dyed in the wool LIBERAL.

6. I Figure a Vote for Kucinich at this point...
...is a vote for the more more peaceful and progressive version of Kerry.

Of course, I will work to get Kerry elected in November.

7. Did just that...
I'll be outta town for my ridiculously late Illinios primary, so I filled out my absentee ballot last night and I selected Kucinich. We felt that we should show our support for Dennis, even though the DNC page has Kerry plastered all over it.

Now to move on to the issue of getting Illinois to have a more timely primary....

We managed to move up the AZ primary to February; good luck on your task--it can be done with a cooperative Guv.

10. Here's the problem with that...
I wouldn't put it past those (expressive noun deleted) to use the supposed party disunity to show that, of course, they won the general election when the Democratic Nominee comes in way behind what he should in the General Election due to their hackable BBV and other tried and true methods of skewing the vote.

If we show solidly enough and long enough before the General Election that we DO wholeheartedly support Kerry, they will have a harder time pulling that off.

My heart says vote for Wesley Clark ... perhaps enough support will get him the VP spot. My head says don't give the Bush cabal ANYTHING they might possibly be able to use to steal another election.

13. Understood, but--the time to rally the troops is RESOUNDINGLY
at the Convention. Let's hash it out, make the Party look relevant again, then have a great Convention riding on the tails of a great candidate that can blow the opposition out of the water.

BE A PROUD DEMOCRAT, vote your conscience in the Primes, then let's unify at the Convention--they'll have a hard time playing down a unifying Convention.

17. Thanks for re-opening this discussion, Robb!
Had a thread like this myself a few days ago, inviting those who hadn't yet cast their ballots to vote for Dean or Kucinich, as the only candidates remaining with delegates who have not endorsed Kerry (as Clark and Edwards have).

While it's too late to prevent Kerry's nomination, it's not to late to ensure a Progressive voice at the convention. And if Kerry's half the "liberal" his cheerleaders claim he is, (which definitely is not indicated by his performance since the Florida Coup) then he -and the party leaders- will hear that voice and know that the people of the Democratic party expect better than business as usual and a continuation of the corporate imperialist agenda currently in place. And in the event Kerry is elected, we must never let them forget that. Not for one second.

22. FYI, here are the remaining primary dates
STATE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DATE
Florida 3/9
Louisiana 3/9
Mississippi 3/9
Texas 3/9
Illinois 3/16
Pennsylvania 4/27
Indiana 5/4
Nebraska 5/11
West Virginia 5/11
Arkansas 5/18
Kentucky 5/18
Oregon 5/18
Idaho 5/25
Alabama 6/1
New Mexico 6/1
South Dakota 6/1
Montana 6/8
New Jersey 6/8
North Carolina 7/20

I'm leaning towards Edwards myself if it will help make him VP. It should be someone who can be an instant Dem frontrunner in 2008 or 2012, and Clark's a little too old for that.
