Moveon.org
This is just an off the top of my head post. Last night on Matthews, he really went after the Moveon guy, I forget his name. But at one point he wanted to know what the Democratic plan for job growth is. The guy said they are just focusing on Bush's record. I didn't quite understand the whole thing, but I think I do now. Moveon.org cannot coordinate with the Democratic Party in any way. That's illegal. So when we talk about Moveon, we need to always keep that in mind. I think. I'm basing it on this press release:

Gillespie also claimed falsely that we are "coordinating our ad strategy with a presidential campaign" and using the money raised by the MoveOn.org Voter Fund in "willful violation of the law."

"Gillespie is dead wrong on both counts. Since October, when we began our TV ad campaign, we absolutely have never coordinated ad strategy with a presidential campaign, and we never will," Boyd said. "We consult counsel every step of the way to be sure we obey the letter and spirit of the law."

"You have to sympathize with Gillespie. Our Voter Fund's TV ads are doing an effective job of telling the truth about George Bush's failed policies. If I were RNC chair, I too would want to change the subject. But he can't do that just by making things up," said Boyd.

MoveOn.org's lawyer, Joseph Sandler of the Washington, D.C. firm of
Sandler, Reiff and Young also refuted Gillespie's ill-founded claims about violations of campaign finance laws.

"Since there have been no contacts of any kind between the Kerry Campaign and our organization regarding any advertising undertaken by the MoveOn.org Voter Fund, it is absolutely clear under the FEC's regulations that the Voter Fund advertisements do not meet the definition of a 'coordinated communication' and are therefore entirely lawful."

Mods: I hope you'll leave the extra paragraph, I think it's important. I also think posting a whole press release isn't a copyright violation anyway. Thanks.

1. That's right! I didn't even occur to me while I was watching
Maybe Tweety was trying to catch Zack off guard when asking him about the plans of the Democratic Party or John Kerry! Hmm....That's sneaky.

3. Boyd is showing the best defense...
everyone should remember to challenge the motivation of the speaker after putting to rest the unfounded criticism. That's the way to get Gillespie and friends on the defensive, where they belong.

4. MoveOn let its membership vote on the best anti-bush ads
it's nonsense to suggest MoveOn is being manipulated by the democratic party ...

actually, to what extent was the CBS decision to block the MoveOn ad during the superbowl influenced by the republican party ??

talk about the poppy calling the Kerry black ...

5. A big THANK YOU to MoveOn.org
You're fightin' the good fight.
The Republican cabal thinks that everyone starts their day with a Matt Drudge e-mail, like the right wingers all do.
