What should the first Kerry ad say ?
Should it be anti-Bush? Should it be positive? Should it question the leadership of Bush? Noting that it is a marathon from here to November, what should be used as a starting point?

Personally, I think it should be something slightly ambiguous, without going totally negative, such as - a list of facts about unemployment, people without healthcare, our loss of prestige around the world, etc. End up by saying, "We can do better". Just plant the seed before we hit them broadside just before the election. Maintain a positive image as much as humanly possible.

1. Definitely positive
We can't let him start the tone of the election with a negative ad. Let Bush start, and he inevitably will.

4. I agree...we need to keep it as clean and 'high road' as possible in the
ads; let Chimpy and his minions resort to negativity, since their record sucks donkey dick... *ROFLMAO*
They got nothin'. If Kerry stays positive for the most part, and is extremely cautious about how he criticizes Chimpy in ads closer to the election, it would be good.

But I want to be able to point to every goddamn GOP hypocrit that will inevitably try to say that Dems are fighting dirty that it was Bush who started it, not Kerry.

11. Use the MoveOn ads.
As soon as Shrubco goes negative, unleash all of them. People will collect them on TIVO like baseball cards. You could even run the "Hitler" ad just once if Shrubco got too militaristic. It would be like the Babe Ruth card. Everybody would be googling trying to find it, and they'd run acroos all our websites.

8. I have an idea for a guaranteed winner ad
However, I know Rove's people read this site. Does Kerry have anyone we can contact with our suggestions. Generally in campaigns the people at the bottom answer the emails and take messages and I would like to send my suggestion to someone who's in a position to decide whether or not to use it.

14. Lots of split screens of * when he was running and what he said
after becoming the pResident. Remember the Daily show debate with Gov. Bush and President * - it was great.

Gov Bush - we must show the world we are a humble nation (paraphrasing)

Gov Bush - we can't just go around to other countries telling them what to do

Gov Bush - No nation-building.

15. How about a series of horrible economic numbers
Like the national debt, cost of war in Iraq, maybe even the numbers of soldiers killed in Iraq followed by the closing line: "John Kerry for president, because America can't afford another 4 years of George Bush."

17. Shock and Awe
Can't be wimpy feel good ads. Screw that because as Jeff Koopersmith says:

"It's War! ... This is not a time for the temperate.

The President and, more than ever, the men and women around him will display no conscience. They are in a fight to the death -- a filthy fight -- and they've proven over and over again that they are not above the worst kind of hate-mongering, the grimiest mudslinging, and the basest of puerile political smut-peddling...

Kerry should take care to take aim at the White House -- on every front, and at all possible junctures. He should assemble his troops vigilantly, and launch them at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue -- without apology, hesitation, or regret...

This is not the time for thoughtful contemplation... So John Kerry, remember this: you are not a crown prince, you are David for the average American who has put heart in you to slaughter Goliath.

Today, slings and stones won't do it... you will need political weapons of mass destruction.

You will need to step away from your gentlemanly posture in order to do battle in the filthy trenches now being dug by Republican power mongers in states both Red and Blue."

18. the first ads are already out
and they're good. Go to his web site and see them.

I'd like to see an ad hammering home the message that the Iraq war is not the war on terror but a diversion from the war on terror.

23. I wish it could say Fuck Bush
In huge white letters sort of like this:

With a voice over like, I know something about aircraft carriers for real....

and then,

I'm John Kerry, and I approve of this message, because this pResident is the most ideological, most deranged, most frothing at the mouth, most idiotic pResident we've ever had, and he needs to be put down like a rabid dog. Fuck Bush.

24. Enron/Halliburton Vs. Energy Independence
When Kerry mentioned energy independence during his victory speech, it got the biggest applause of the night. People want to know that Kerry is going to do something real for them, something they can watch happen.

Health care would be my second choice, because both will be major overhauls during the next 4 years.

27. One of Shrub's biggest weaknesses in polls
is he's controlled by special interests.

Talk about how it is hurting average Americans.

About all the money he is raising.

All the money going to Iraq, while US is hurting. (another weak pt)

30. Go after Bush Administration
For waffling on the rationale for war.. and the Deficit and then back out the attack ads until the convention.

Truth of the matter is.....The anger at Bush in this country is palpable. Cut him once and let him bleed for a while.

Credibility is a huge issue in this campiagn.
