TPM:Top Edwards Adviser Joe Trippi: Hillary & Obama Are "Banging Down The Doors" For Our Endorsement
Top Edwards Adviser Joe Trippi: Hillary And Obama Are "Banging Down The Doors" For Our Endorsement
By Greg Sargent - January 30, 2008, 12:17PM
Top Edwards adviser Joe Trippi just confirmed to me by phone that the Hillary and Obama campaigns are already working overtime to woo Edwards to their sides -- even before his official dropout speech.

"They're banging down the doors," Trippi told me.

"I don't expect him to do anything today," Trippi said. "His will be a very coveted endorsement. He's got a fairly large following in the party, both on line and off, and I can't think of anybody else who would be bigger or more coveted."

Asked if an endorsement was possible before Feb. 5, something that could have a huge impact, Trippi declined to rule out the possibility. "I'll let him speak to that himself," Trippi said.

9. Edwards can and will do what he wants
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 12:50 PM by BeyondGeography
as for "desperation," the Obama campaign has done just fine with him as an active opponent.

Statements like this don't reflect well on him and/or his motives.

that as Corporate as Hillary is, and thus distatesful, the real ACRIMONY comes from the OBAMA CAMP, where you Anti-Edwards guys just keep adding fuel to the fire. You just can't shut up can you?

That, more than anything, makes my decision easier.

28. As someone who was going to vote Edwards...
I 2nd your sentiment.

It's almost as if the corporatist we do know (Clinton) could be a better choice than the corporatist we don't know w/ the rude supporters (Obama).

8. I doubt he'll endorse either of them
BOTH are corporate flunkies. BOTH have taken hundreds of millions from healthcare corporations, insurance corporations, etc.

BOTH are exactly what is WRONG with this country.

7. Trippi is the only reason I think Edwards might go to Obama
He hates hillary. It has been painfully obvious in his bashing of her campaign over the last few weeks.

I don't know how much influence he has though when it comes to John's decision.

12. That's true
After the JJ dinner in Iowa, he took one look at the Obama crowd outside and screamed out, "let's kick her ass."

Sounds to me like Joe is trolling for another job. :puke:

I guess we'll know soon enough how much he bilked out of JE.

25. Trippi sure has a hard-on for the Clintons.
He probably offered his services to them and was told to take a hike.

So bitter ...

As for Mudcat saying what he did about Clinton, even if he thought that he really should have kept it to himself. Doesn't do them much good to play their hand openly like that. If that is how John's brain-trust has behaved throughout this run, no wonder his campaign never caught on.

Makes you wonder if Mudcat and Trippi cared more about themselves than JE.
