those who made up there mind in the last month favored Obama. Early voting obviously contributed to Clinton's overall win, but I think Obama can take some comfort.

1. I don't understand why anyone would vote a month before the election.
so much can happen in that time: a candidate could drop out (and your vote would mean nothing), a scandal could break, your feelings could change because of an endorsement, a debate, a candidate's comments/behavior, etc. You could end up regretting your vote long before the election ever takes place.

Seriously ... why do people vote so far in advance?

6. I think to give those overseas the chance to get their ballot and return it.
I got my ballot early and returned it recently.

Obama's problem is going to be the same as with all youth-driven candidates -

GETTING THEM THE FUCK OUT TO VOTE.

75% of the voters in FL in this primary were over 45.

8. they have gone out to vote
remember Iowa? and SC? both high youth turnouts. The problem in florida is not the youth turnout, it's the fact that a disproportionately large # of retirees live there.

9. I hope so.
they always act all excited, and then get distracted by some new reality tv show.

I already yelled at my son about the low youth turnout AGAIN! and he isn't even old enough to vote!

My daughter will be. 18 in September. I can't wait to bring her out to vote.

11. the election is pretty much the newest reality show
Anyway glad to hear you're encouraging your kids. I've done my part by signing people up on campus. I'll be doing a bunch of GOTV stuff this week too.

10. I understand why you would vote early if you're out of the country ...
but if you're here, why not wait as long as possible to return the ballot? I know I would. If I had voted a month ago, I would have voted for Kucinich ... and it would mean nothing now.

I guess I'm a little more sensitive to the issue because this is the first time that my state will actually have a real say in choosing the nominee. Our primary is on Super-Duper Tuesday. In the past, we always had a late primary, so the nomination was pretty much a done deal by the time we got to vote. I'd be crushed if I blew my chance to finally have a say by voting early for someone who is out of the race!

2. But I thought they were saying on MSNBC that this is a beauty contest and doesn't matter. Oh, I see,
unless there's some favorable news to report about Obama, THEN it's significant.

3. ...
That is good news. Obama would've won them over had he been able to campaign there.

7. What... 2 weeks of unrelenting TV advertising on CNN and MSNBC for Obama
wasn't "enough"?
