Exit polls say McCain wins Fla...is he gonna be our opponent?
Redstate.com has the exit polls as:

Exit polls from Florida:

McCain 34.3
Romney 32.6
Giulani 15
Huck 12

http://www.redstate.com/blogs/illinicon/2008/jan/29/after_2_waves_of_exit_polls_mccain_leads

Seems a bit too close to call based on this, even assuming they are accurate (they do supposedly take tha absentee votes in account).

But if McCain wins, does he win out on Super Tuesday?

1. I guess they only did exit polls in some places...
they didn't do it here....so I don't know how accurate they are...

2. exit polls have margin of error too, so I think that is just too close to say who will win.

3. If he wins Florida, he'll be the nominee
And any Democrat will win. Limbaugh HATES him and was supposedly roasting him all day on his show. The conservatives will stay home and that's death to any Republican candidate.

17. How is that trashing Clinton?
What did he/she say that wasn't true? She's the only candidate in either field that fires up the GOP base. People who would otherwise stay home come out to vote against her.

21. Because it is not true and neither is your statement. ANY Dem candidate (Esp Obama) will
fire up the GOP base. and the Clintons know how to fight back.
Hillary will win the GE with 55%+ of the popular vote.

Who's she running against, David Duke? Nobody is getting 55 % of the vote. That's silly.

26. Hillary's triangulating and poll testing is everything that is wrong with the Dem party
In
My
Opinion

If you think her triangulating is great, you can express that opinion as well. I think it is awful. Regardless, I think she is our weakest candidate. Are we dooooooomed? No.

28. He undeniably appeals to independents, unlike Hillary.
And independents tend to swing elections. In 2006 in most of the red state senate victories, 90% of the Dems voted D, 90% of the Repubs voted R. It was the independents who pushed us over the edge.

29. He doesn't appeal to Indys as much as he used to
His unquestioning support of the Iraq War has hurt his standing among the Indys I know (basically, my entire living family). They see him as little more than a Bush shill these days.

And as the race for the nomination goes on, he'll become an even bigger shill.

34. He still appeals to Indies...he really does
I think the thing that "might" hurt McCain is his running mate choice. He will be pressured to pick an evangelist. Most indies I know WILL NOT be voting for someone who discounts evolution, for instance.

That said, as much as I want a democrat to win, I'd prefer Romney lose early. I'd really hate the thought of this guy potentially becoming president.

I am growing in confidence that this is our year and that our nominee
will beat either of these candidates.

22. McCain is far better than Mitt I think...
McCain at least seems to have some character. He doesn't want to kick out all brown people, for instance. He regularly works with Dems on stuff, etc. No he's not perfect, but Romney really seems like the ultimate paper mache' candidate.

30. I agree.
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 07:35 PM by Big Blue Marble
I also think he would be harder to beat. If I had to choose between them, as in one of them would be the president,
I would have to go with McCain for sure.

But he scares the hell out of me, with all his war talk. He seems ready to go into Iran as well as never wanting
to leave Iraq.

There is only one conclusion. We have to win in November.

Edited to say I love your paper mache description.

31. Agreed. McCain is a harder candidate to beat, but he'd be LOTS better than Paper Mache' Guy
I'm all about the idea that we just can't afford to have a wacko in the White House any more. If our chances of losing are increased by having McCain run, even though he's the only non-wacko, I'm all for it.

Shame on us if we can't beat him. But shame on the nation if we end up with yet another shitheel like Bush.

27. I moved to Florida in '88 and have never been exit polled.
And I have been voting here the whole time. So as far as the state of Florida goes. I do not trust any information about exit polls. We vote on Sequoia machines here in Palm Beach County. The Repukelickin's own Sequoia. So I do not trust the machines or the exit polls. But I am a veteran so I vote anyway.
