9. Because the media has decided that it's a story.

I'm pretty certain that if they had shook hands and chatted, the media could have made a big story out of that, also. If the media could get by with it, and they very nearly have, this type of junk reporting (think Britney, Lindsay, Paris, etc.) would be all that we hear from the campaigns. When they sensationalize an event it boosts circulation and viewers, therefore they use every opportunity to bring petty things like this to the forefront and ignore the real issues that should be in the news. Last week they were charging the Clintons with racism, before that it was Hillary's tears, the week before that, well, you pick one. I predict that by this time next week there will be another bullshit story for them to promote and they will be all over it with the same intensity.

Part of that manufacturing of consent that Chomsky speaks of. I was informed on the HuffPo thread that "it works" and "it's the reason the New Hampshire primaries turned out like they did" and to "just ask Kerry". Just because "it works" doesn't mean we should lower ourselves to arguing about whether he did or did not snub Hillary. Samantha Bee did a great satire on the media making mountains out of molehills on The Daily Show last week, very funny! BTW, this is my first post, found you through a link on HuffPo. Hi everyone!
