Among other things, Obama realizes that change comes from the bottom up
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 07:11 PM by Levgreee
It is the ONLY way to really change the nation, and the world.
This is a truth that has been recognized by many great people, and not so great people, if they decide to pay attention.

Hillary, and Edwards to a lesser extent, just talk about what they will do. How Edwards will fight tooth and nail for us, how Hillary has the most expertise and will set our policies right to fix the country.

7. Endorsements from some of the wealthiest people in this country
do NOT represent change coming from the bottom.

8. Here are some quotes
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 06:55 PM by Levgreee
"A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."

"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

"Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed."

"Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."

"Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness."

"The time is always right to do what is right."

14. It's easy to look around and see what needs to be changed
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 06:58 PM by Levgreee
everywhere you look there is visible problems, problems with health care, education, etc.... also, moral deficits abound, laziness, apathy, greed, dishonesty, corruption... I don't need to give you a lesson on what needs to change, look for yourself.

15. This is the world we've created
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 06:59 PM by Levgreee
call this creation the "real world" if you want, but it is not a necessity that the world is like this, just a construct of the time.

The real world includes all possibilities.

20. He's dead. I'm glad people draw inspiration from that quote, including you,
but he was murdered. There is a real and ugly side to life. It lives alongside us even as we hope. My love, keep your eye on both to survive and to thrive.

19. That will be a VERY good thing for him to remember while
he is taking it "up" the "bottom" from his Republican buddies and his homophobic buddies who will both skewer him later down the road. His "bottom" will definitely be "up" during that massive eye opener.

22. Change *IS* already happening. Obama wants to take us on a different course.
Look at the '06 elections, and the Dem primary turnout vs the rep primary turnout. Look at the polls. Look at the Senate seats up for election.

The people who have been screwed by the republican economy, those that sent their friends, sons, and daughters to fight an ill-advised war are poised to pummel the republicans in November. The republicans, and the corporate owned media knows that.

Now Obama comes along and says... forget all of that, let bygones be bygones. We need to compromise and work with the republicans.. after all, we are one America.

I am not saying this will not work to the betterment of all, but from an Edwards supporter, I consider throwing away the change we have happening now to be a risk.

There isn't one person who can walk in the White House, wave a magic wand, and fix everything for us. We are all going to have to do it together. :hi:
