3. The Obama campaign should provide a helpful list of words
That can no longer be used in American speech.

4. yes well rejigger was such a common phrase
I am sure that we will all be at a tremendous loss to find a word that might be used in its place.

2. it just seemed like an exceedingly odd term to use

I cannot remember ever seeing it in a news headline before which makes one suspicious of its use :o

5. Recently, a popular golf magazine had a picture of a noose with a feature on Tiger Woods.
"Caught in a Noose". How clever of them.:sarcasm:

10. IIRC the article was not about Woods but about the TV announcer who had made a racist comment.
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:45 AM by JVS
It was this commentator that was "Caught in a Noose" of controversy similar to Imus' earlier.

Ah, found something on it

9. And stuff like this is why
we find claims of "Playing the race card" from some camps to be entirely disingenuous. The word has no racial connotations at all. It SOUNDS like another word. Some people can be so niggardly with displays of common sense.

11. This has already been discussed on another thread last night. I wrote the

editor a note and within a few hours they changed the headline. The term can mean making an unethical change or used as a sailing term. I did point out the words similarity to the 'n' word and that some felt it was similar to a race baiting term 'jig'. Again this is old news, they were given the link to our earlier discussion and they rather quickly changed the title. it might be better if this were dropped as the change was made and it further reminds everyone of the rotten politics recently observed.
