He is getting a ton of newspaper endorsements right now. Too many to name.

However, I have a feeling in my gut that Obama is going to shock everyone again with his February 5th performance. Hillary is more well known, this is true, but that is a knife that cuts both ways. It is possible to be too well known. Obama is a new face, and while he is less known than Hillary, by now everyone can at least identify him in a line up. Most people might not know much about him, but let's face it - most people don't really vote on the issues. They vote for a candidate who appeals to them.

I think Obama will do well in the south. It is a bit scary, however, about how off polls have been so far for one candidate or another. Obama needs to focus on close contests, but also on places he can close the gap and pull an upset. California - he might win it. It might be POSSIBLE for him to pull an upset in New Jersey. He will do rather well in the south, but he also needs to focus some attention down there.

I do not think Obama should allow any state to go unchallenged but New York. I do not think he can take New York. He might be able to take Arkansas though - in fact I think he might be leading there right now.

I say he should send Michelle down south to rally up his African American support. What he really needs is not tremendous victories, but for enough states to fall into his column that it out numbers Hillary's states. It will give him momentum going into the next contest.

Obama might have to pull in support from Oprah moving forward. She might be able to draw in a large enough crowd to flip CA, NJ, and TN. If Obama flips CA or NJ I think that will be one of the major headlines depending on how well he does in the south. Those two states are pretty much considered Clinton Territory right now.

2. "Obama might have to pull in support from Oprah moving forward."
My goodness, to have to depend on an actress/television hostess to win the Presidency.

I hope he sweeps. I just think its a tough hill to climb and I don't want to have unreal expectations.

The newspaper endorsement blitz tonight though is very promising.

8. I don't think he should concede New York.
That's a lot of delegates to divvy up, and there are congressional districts where Obama can do very well. As far as I know, Hillary has never faced a real primary challenge there in either of her senate races. The way the DNC rules are laid out, it is still possible to accumulate a significant number of delegates even when losing a state overall.

9. Problem is honemoon out of SC is short for Obama
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:19 AM by sunonmars
Today to be exact.

Tomorrow is Chimpys last SOTU speech and you can be guaranteed that is going to take over the MSM tomorrow with full force.

Then Tuesday its Florida. With Hillary's win expected there by a large margin and the repugs race dominating, he aint gonna get no press that day either. So today is the only day for spinning out of SC.

While he spends tomorrow in the Senate at the SOTU, Pres. Clinton will be off campaigning for Hillary.

Thats politics for you. No grace period.

12. Not an Obama supporter - but I think he will do well on Super Tues.
He'll do well in the South. If he can pull states like Oklahoma and Minnesota, he will be right in the thick of things. He needs a strong second place finish in California and New York. I don't think he can win those two states. Hillary's ground game is well-established and she is doing extremely well among Latino voters. Obama will have to improve his outreach efforts to the Latino community.

14. The way the Clinton's have played the race card ...
... I think Obama will do very well. I know a couple people who are now leaning towards Obama, especially after BC seemed to belittle Obama's awesome SC victory by implying it was a black victory (even though Obama got just about his share of the white vote against Clinton and Edwards).

16. Some of these Super Tuesday polls are months old - some are from September!
I don't know how meaningful many of the super Tuesday polls are - the one in Minnesota appears to have been conducted last September. Things are fast moving and could change quickly given the bounce Obama may get from his crushing 27 point win!

Remember a lot of White voters didn't like Bill Clinton's tactics.Let's talk about polls vs results.
Obama beat Hillary In Iowa by 9 points. There were some polls claiming she would win.Only the Des
Moines Register, and Zogby predicted this. And zogby was the only shoing Edwards second.Yes polls were
wrong In New Hampshere but Obama's total were close to what the polls suggested. Her victory there was In part of her using the victim card, and getting some of the Edwards learning voters switiching to her,and doing better with undeceideds.Hillary has the party structure In Nevada and was ahead by over 20 points and Obama closed that to 6 points. No poll had Obama winning this huge victory In South Carolina.Zogby had the biggest by 12 points and It was 28 points.Polls said Obama had 10 percent of the white vote and he got 24 percent.Obama got 52 percent of Whites 18-30.The lesson learned Is polls can change.Suspose In Florida Obama get 40 percent and Hillary gets 50-55 percent. The assumation many were saying she would win by 25-30 points. Also what If on February 5 Obama does better with Hispanics than the pundits suggest. They have been wrong with white voters.According to some of them those of us who don't support Hillary should not vote and just stay home since despite how the early states have gone she Is Inevitable.

My guess is that Wisconsin will be the deciding state on February 19th. Being that I'm in Madison, it will be fascinating to be in the front row watching Obama win the nomination!

I think the Caroline Kennedy endorsement is hugh--particularly in the New York, New Jersey and California. It won't hurt in Florida either.
