NY TIMES ENDORSES HILLARY CLINTON
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/25/opinion/25fri1.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

The potential upside of a great Obama presidency is enticing, but this country faces huge problems, and will no doubt be facing more that we can’t foresee. The next president needs to start immediately on challenges that will require concrete solutions, resolve, and the ability to make government work. Mrs. Clinton is more qualified, right now, to be president.

24. as a NY resident, I no longer appreciate the NYTimes or Hillary. Neither are really willing

to recognize the harm our unregulated corporations and antagonistic foreign policy has done to the US and the world.

Both pay lip service to Democratic ideals and fiddle around the edges.

Nothing more than window dressing.

Both the Clintons and the Times have long records proving that.

4. What did you expect?
The NYT has always been in her back pocket. They have about as much credibility as Fox "news" at this point.

Senator Clinton's been a good Senator for NY. Not great, but good.

11. For whatever reason different people here may feel it was written
By and large I agree with this editorial, in both content and conclusion. I have seen the NY Times use editorial space on at least two occaisions before this to be critical of the dangers inherent in the nature of the Clinton 2008 Campaign, and this editorial contains echos of that too. But it also presents a thoughful overview of our candidate choices, which is no surprise to hear me say because it just so happens that this editorial largely reflects my own thinking on the matter, lol. If Hillary Clinton looses the nomination I would gladly back either of her remaining opponents in the Democratic primaries.

19. I agree. I thought they were too dismissive about Edwards, but I felt they
were fair in their assessments of Clinton AND Obama.

17. We saw her going town by town through New York in 2000, including places where Clinton-bashing was a
popular sport. She won over skeptical voters and then delivered on her promises and handily won re-election in 2006.

20. Yes they did. But A New York Paper endorsing a New York Senator
is hardly breathtaking.

I knew that would happen.

Still, Obama has way more endorsements then does Hillary.

21. Interesting that they did not endorse life long New York resident Rudy Giuliani.
I think they considered a few more criteria than residence.

22. Not did they NOT endorse him--they reamed him!

"The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square."

26. comparing Guiliani's candidacy on the GOP side to Obama's on the Left is ludicrous.
For starters, Obama happens to be viable.
Secondly, he's has a decent record of helping people not fucking them over like Guiliani has- in both his political AND private life.
