Dem males voting for McCain over HRC and their own best interests, a microcosm
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 11:29 AM by mrgorth
Here is a thread in another forum I post in which was created for normally democratic voters who feel more pulled towards McCain than Hillary to say why:
http://www.flyersphans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94019

As you can see, one of the Hill-bots is upset because, although McCain is a real conservative, people are going to vote based on their impressions of the candidates. Now, I can already see the Hill-bot responses in this thread where they say that this little thread on what's really a hockey board means nothing. To which I say "oooooof course, it's all meaningless. Hillary can beat anyone because she's a Clinton. And after all, it's just some Philly white guys." Right, this is her problem. Lots of people can't stand her and think McCain is decent. I will be bumping this thread when she loses to McCain if they both get the nominations. GoBama!

1. I didn't get the same impression while reading flyersphans....
I read some posts by people who will vote for Hillary and some who will vote for McCain. They don't say whether they are Dems or Repubs, so that seems perfectly normal to me.

2. Well one of them is me
and I don't count. Also, moderate repubs can vote for anyone in the general, which is what we're talking about.

3. But the title of your thread doesn't make sense.
It seems like you're trying to push it without strong evidence.

13. It makes perfect sense
My thread title says "a microcosm". Maybe it's just this demo because there are a lot of suburban white men on a hockey board. I'm just showing examples of what I fear will be a pattern.

4. What is a hill-bot?
You want to inject some "Amazing theory" and you ruin it all with a "hill-bot" statement. Too bad, so sad. I would have loved to point out that no matter what, Democrats are out voting and out registering r's by record numbers. I don't think the majority of these will vote r in the general. But you made a slight towards HRC supporters just to be mean so you do not deserve a legitimate rebuttal.

11. I actually did not look at your avatar.
What are avatars some kind of a statement thingy now? I mean really, if you start out the post without all the drama you may catch a few more flies. I know that may be hard to do but try it.

6. I don't see why this sort of thing doesn't concern Hill supporters
Hillary is so incredibly divisive. Is it just that they don't see that, or don't care?

I mean, watch this video on McCain's site: http://www.johnmccain.com/bvid/

That's going to connect with a lot of lukewarm Dems. I think Obama can offer an inspiring counterpoint to make this a competitive election.. but how does Hillary compete with that? Just seems unreal to me.

8. LOL,
the Reagan Democrats flex their muscle.

Hillary rejects them...the consequences are now clear.

12. " Lots of people can't stand her and think McCain is decent."
As part of our thinking when we select a President, we judge their character based on past actions in an effort to decide if they'll make the right decisions in the future. On 9/10/01, who was thinking of a War on Terror? Who knows what the next 4 years will bring? I can understand people selecting McCain over Senator Clinton thinking that he'll do the right thing regardless of transient political consequences.
