Ohio Primary Poll: Columbia Dispatch

Poll: Kerry has big lead heading into Tuesday's primary

Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sen. John Kerry had a more than 2-1 lead in Ohio over Sen. John Edwards going into the state's Democratic presidential primary Tuesday, according to a poll by The Columbus Dispatch.

The Massachusetts senator was at 59 percent to 28 percent for Edwards, according to the poll's results, which were published Sunday. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland was third with 5 percent.

Edwards has done better than expected in primaries of other states where polls showed him far behind in days leading up to those elections.

In the Feb. 17 primary in Wisconsin, the North Carolina senator finished 6 percentage points behind Kerry after polls showed him far behind. In the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 19, he came from the back of the pack to finish second.

1. Kind of an unusual methodology
for a poll these days. They (the newspaper) did it themselves and they did it by mail over 9 day period.

Didn't know it was still done that way. Interesting to see how accurate it ends up being.

2. If Kucinich loses own state by 50%, should he drop out?
Granted it must be a media blackout in his own state and no one knows that he's a congressman there who is running for President, but...

/sarcasm
