Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 08:05 AM by elizm
It is the 10 year anniversary of the Monica Lewinski scandal and Good Morning American just ran a segment on it....Reminding us of the FACTS and separating them from the FAIRY TALES. Good on them.
Flame away.

1. Considering all the problems of today
Rehashing a 10 year old sexual scandal seems a bit frivolous. I mean how about a piece on electronic voting machines, global warming, the coming economic depression, torture, or the Iraq occupation, just to name a few.

Facts/Fairy Tales/and outright lies. Bill Clinton opened the can of worms by running his mouth too much in Hillary's campaign.

8. Anyone who didn't see this coming down the pike truly has blinders on.
The media spun gold out of trash during the 1990s based on the idiotic behavior of Bill Clinton. You should know that they will do it again. Both Bill and Hillary hand them the ammo and they blast away. This nation needs a serious break from the travails of the Clinton marriage, the vitriol of the RW slime machine in all its incarnations, and the combined effects of the Clinton and Bush legacies.

and endless coverage of the horny teen moment that will never die.

It will be fun, they promise.

Particularly in the way the appear to be defining it now. If we are the big tent party, then we don't need the divisiveness and the continual courting of big corporate dollars and currying of favor. The Clintons' Southern Strategy is destructive and will have long lasting effects.

12. Cable News was brought to the fore and became prominent as a result of the lewinsky scandal
with the realty tv mentality of this country right now and with the networks knowing that dirt sells, if you think that the tabloid assault on the Clintons isn't coming, you're nuts.

And trust me, the people of this country will buy it.

54. It wasn't about sex as much as about our Comander in Chief having a serious lack of respect for the
office he was in and a serious inability to tell the truth while under oath putting not only his position in jeopardy but many more after his (and having all of us still reliving the nightmare b/c of his ego and urges).

Seems he set a fine example for 'telling the American people the truth'. Look how our current resident of the White House is following it.

72. I read they're making a documentary about how the Clintons "censored" The Path to War...
That's the ABC "mock"umentary which took the real people and put other words in their mouths in order to make it look like the Clintons were personally responsible for 9/11... Some right wing think tank is financing some asshole recently fired from a talk radio station in Los Angeles with a bunch of archive footage - you get the idea.

The point is that I really don't think anyone is making a "documentary" about Obama.

READ THIS: I support Hillary OVER Obama, but I don't have my blinders on - a Hillary nom (which I think will happen) and administration (which I think will happen) will be fraught with *more* what we saw in the 90's from the right wing.

I think Hillary is the best candidate and will make an even better president than her husband - she's more disciplined.

But I'm not fooling myself, either...

but Hillary supporters won't believe it until it happens, and by then, it will be too late.

Why the democratic party continues to vote against their own interests is beyond me.

Any of our other candidates would have been more viable in a general election against the republicans, with the exception of Kucinich and Gravel. Clinton has the least chance of those remaining to pull off a win.

We will see four more years of a repub administration.

hard to 'recover' from an addiction one never had.

Use and addiction are two glaringly different things - and you are a lucky person to not know the difference. Anyone whose life has been touched by addiction can tell you how painful it is.

Because there is NO WAY those three words put together describe a person who is free from addiction. And you were NO WAY implying that Senator Obama was addicted to cocaine when you wrote that term in your post or asked about the 'anniversary' of the day he proclaimed to be 'Clean and Sober'. Because people who have suffered through addiction Don't EVER celebrate the day that they became 'Clean and Sober'. Yep, I'm the distorter. Okay.

And I suppose the rank hypocrisy of the GOP ten years ago will be re-used as brand new rank hypocrisy this go around by Democrats.

Most people don't listen to Rush Limbaugh.
Most people don't run around having affairs.
Most people don't approve of such behavior.

To try and defend a man who slept with several women behind his wife's back, then wrote about it in a book, is ridiculous.

I'm like most people in America, I don't like Bill Clinton.

they were investigating. This was a civil case, not a criminal case and therefore had a different, more lenient set of rules and laws. If you or I had done the same thing in similar circumstances, there would be nothing anyone could do about it because it had nothing to do with the case at hand. Is this all you have to denigrate Bill Clinton with? If so get your facts straight.

"Tell Bill to pipedown defending himself and Hillary against the "swiftboating" attacks from us!"

Oh, wait! No.. Kerry would say:

"Clinton is acting like a thug picking on Obama. How does that look, a former president pouncing on Mr. Greenjeans?"

70. Which reminds me since Bill is on tv everyday defending Hillary, where was Bill in 2004?
You know, no President has ever gotten so involved in the primaries ever before.

It's all about the Clintons at the Clinton household.

38. I imagine that even on DU
I imagine that even on DU, many will act shocked-- shocked(1) I tell you when relating this episode of WJC's life that does not meet the standards of their own prudish and Victorian sexual moralities...

Wait a minute. Prudish and Victorian sexual standards... on DU? I suppose it's a morality of convenience.

Well, it's either that, or we'll hear the infamous Rush Limbaugh line, "it's not about the sex..."

64. Monicagate led us to GW Bush.
Remember returning "honor and dignity to the White House?"

It's amazing how one blow job changed the face of history.

69. Since the Lewinsky affair caused Bill's approval ratings to go up, let's talk about it all the time.
