1. I must say
all three major candidates - Clinton, Obama & Edwards - have very impressive spouses.

2. Campaigning is tough on family's. I'm in complete amazement
how well everyone has been doing this. But if her husband wants to remain in politics it goes with the territory.

5. I don't think he will run again if he knows he will loose again mainly because....
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 08:07 AM by bigdarryl
who ever gets in the white house republican or democrat after eight years who ever the Vice President is will automatically get the nomination and if Obama tries to run again from outside of the party machine he looses again based on that i don't think he will run again until at least 16 years from now. Most Senators who run for President and loose and try and run again don't make it the second time around. look at Biden and Gore who both ran twice and lost twice.

7. If she said that... she needs to sit out of the campaign for a while
Cuz that's just begging for people to get into their personal business.

8. WOW....reminds me of a petulent child.
"Well I'll just take my ball and go home then!"

He doesn't get elected President after only 11 years in politics and he'll never run again (at least not as a married man)?

Whatever happened to "if at once you don't succeed..."?

Look at some of the great comebacks in recent political history: Gore, Nixon, Reagan...maybe McCain. There is a reason why putting up a completely new crop of candidates every four years doesn't work - perseverance, longevity (including growth, maturity, etc.)and name recognition are key. It's not like Obama is a Joe Biden who will never get any closer.

13. #1. Being a Senator isn't a consolation prize. It's an honor. #2. Talented/gifted people often
seek new challenges. #3. Maybe the Obama family wants more quality time in their lives.

17. If they have something better to do...
...then maybe they should go ahead and do it. The Presidency is a lifetime commitment and will forever change their lives. If they need more family time or a different challenge (you know, something better than being the leader of the free world), then move along.

9. I met her in Hanover NH last summer. She had their two girls
with her. She stopped to talk and I asked her how she managed such a hectic schedule. She laughed and said it was difficult and that she and the girls were returning to Chicago that day because she had a PTA meeting in the morning and was supposed to bring the orange juice. Very impressive woman, very normal, very likeable.

35. You got that right -
Edwards will keep running day after day, month after month, year after year, dragging his wife around with him on multiple 36-hour campaign marathons. Cancer, schmancer; win or die! (Or maybe die, then win -- with the sympathy vote.) :puke:

30. I think it is pretty rude- and racist. While I agree
that the Idolization of candidates is a big problem (across the board) What is with "the black man" shit?

I'm dissapointed- not something I expected to read with your name attached.

21. Shows lack of commitment to her country. How many other
president's families had to go through this process more than once before winning. Her motto: give up on first try because her convictions are not important enough. I'll take my ball and go home. Nice attitude!

Let the two candidates who have 100% support from their spouse fight it out: John and Hillary.

They're running now because of the girls. They don't want to drag them through this when they're teen-agers.
