Freepology Today: Freepers shocked -- shocked I say! -- that Huckabee is using push-polling
Remember John McCain's illegitimate black baby? You know, the one that South Carolinians heard about through a push-poll in 2000? Well, if John McCain could forget that enough to kiss George W. Bush, then I guess no one can be faulted for forgetting it.

Nevertheless, the sleazy push-polls happened and helped derail McCain's bid for the Republican nomination in favor of — :puke: — George W. Bush. Who orchestrated this shameless sliming? None other than the architect of Reagan's 1984 campaign, Ed Rollins. Well, when Ed Rollins became Mike Huckabee's campaign manager, many of us wonder when Huckabee's aw-shucks-nice-guy campaign would go full-tilt slime. It came close with the "let's show you the negative ad we don't want to air," stunt, but today, Freepers are complaining about something over the top: Huckabee push-polling in South Carolina. Gee, who woulda thunk it?

The alarm was sounded by Freeper favorite (and only Freeper favorite as the polls have shown), Fred Thompson. The Freepers http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1955486/posts?page=1,50">reacted badly.

Here are some highlights:

To the Huckster supporters on FR. Your candidate is pure scum who will never be supported by conservatives. A vote for Huckster is a vote for Hillary or Obama. Get used to it because the majority of us will never vote for this worthless piece of crap.

You have summed it up and made my day! If the country is going to be destroyed by a socialist agenda, I’d rather it be by a liberal Democrat than a faux conservative Republican.

The issue devolved into a flame war between Huckabee and Thompson supporters, best exemplified by this post:

Why somewhat surprised? For someone campaigning as a christian, old Huck has had no problem bending his ethics to help his campaign.

Speaking of ethics. Has there been any updates on those 14 ethics violations while he was governor of Arkansas? Has that been debunked or ignored?

_____________

Just out of curiosity how is your post any different then a push poll? You throw up a nasty suggestion (14 ethics violations) as if it something you have information about and pose it as a question so it doesn’t rest on you as a statement that you have made.

If you have sparse information about ethics violations, you should have done some research and then posted here so everyone could learn from your research- instead you threw up some negative words to the wind, pretended it was something you had a sincere question about- just to get the dirty stuff on peoples mind.

Very same tactic.

Seem familiar somehow? Freeper dan1123 gets the "Freeper-with-a-clue" award for this satirical summary of a pattern that's all-too-painfully-familiar here on DU as well:
What “My guy” did in the past is irrelevant or a lie. What he says today is what counts. What “Your guy” did wrong is still relevant and cannot be forgiven. “My guy” is a ‘true’ conservative no matter what you say about how he governed or voted or whatever. “Your guy” is a fake conservative who is just saying what he needs to to win the election.

1. Some new poll has him 2 points behind McCain.
And I think Hucky can win it. If he wins it, the chaos continues.

3. The polls I've seen all have him in a statistical tie with McCain
Today's Rasmussen poll has both at 24%. We'll see. I'd rather run our candidate against Huckabee than McCain. McCain still has this bogus "Straight Talk" reputation. The MSM and the right-wing noise machine is already trashing Huckabee. If he wins the nomination, their sudden "support" of Huckabee will be pretty weak.

Huckabee's populist charm concerns me, but with the right-wing already piling on him... he may be damaged goods by the time he wins the nomination (if he does).

4. I'm thinking more short term.
If Huckabee wins, McCain takes a big hit, and no one gets a 2 election win streak. It keeps the republican race as muddled as ever.

2. Move along. There is nothing to see here. Push Polling?
Huckabee, you have committed the sin of deception and must burn in the fires of hell. Satan the father of lies will welcome you with flaming arms. :dem::evilgrin:
