I'm supporting Edwards
I'm a late boomer like Obama (1 year older)/

During that time -
I've seen manufacturing leave the US
I've seen service jobs leave the US
I've seen professional jobs leave the US
I've seen corporations hire professionals overseas and board them 4/apartment here in the US while Americans in the same occupations can't get jobs because they can't live 4/apartment
I've seen income practically stagnant
I've seen ppl's retirements virtually lost because companies were able to use bankruptcy to get out of prior retirement commitments
my retirement plans have been restructed so that right now I expect to see <40% what I was expecting to receive in 1999
I'm worried about whether 3 children have anything like the opportunies me and my spouse had (and ours weren't great because we were late boomer)

I've seen plenty of bipartisanship when it serves the interest of business or agriculture
I've seen virtually no bipartisanship when it serves the interest of human citizens (esp those that are the least among us - children, elderly, disabled)

Edwards is the only candidate talking about trying to rebalance the scales so that we the people matter.
I'm doing fine (I was doing great while Clinton was in office). But I have three children to worry about.

No issue, absolutely no issue, is as important to me as protecting the future of our children.
For the future of our children, I care about putting people first in politics. If people are the made the most important priority, education, the environment, healthcare, and labor will assume their correct places high in the priorities of the country.

differentiate his positions from BOTH Clinton AND Obama this time around.

I´m for JRE all the way. His positions are the best for our Country and the World and I am afraid that neither Obama nor Clinton can win the GE either.

This is serious! Support JRE!

9. Good for you! John, the Peoples Candidate.
I remember the commercial where the guy from the closed Maytag Plant says John got down on one knee and looked in the yes of his 7 year old son and said he "promised to fight for his Daddy's job". As the former Maytag Plant manager said, "that is the kind of man we want inthe White House." John is the only candidate who "gets it".

"I've seen plenty of bipartisanship when it serves the interest of business or agriculture
I've seen virtually no bipartisanship when it serves the interest of human citizens (esp those that are the least among us - children, elderly, disabled)"

This hits the nail on the head. We, The People, have somehow become disposable, even meat for the meat grinder that is the Iraq War. And it's all about profit. What is suppose to be a "representative government" with The People as sovereign has discovered that they can derive their power from sources other than The People-- circumventing us altogether-- and now we, The People, must throw out the corporate money changers in the halls of our Congress. What is happening is an atrocity and the founders of this nation would be aghast to see where we are today.

John Edwards is the only candidate willing to go to battle and restore the integrity of our Constitution and will use of the sovereignty of The People to get it done. For all of us. And especially for our children.

GO, JOHN, GO!!!!!!!!

This is the traditional stance of the Democratic party. As you wisely point out, within the proper context all of the issues will be resolved, and Edwards is creating that context: people are the priority.

26. I still say he's going to surprise a lot of people.
His message may ring better in the midwest than a lot of people think.

He's the only candidate that supports a return to fiscal sanity and reigning in corporate corruption and wholesale greed. He's the only candidate that's talking about how bad trade agreements are killing our prosperity and communities. I would like to pass out flyers and distribute his positions and let people know what they're not hearing from the media.

I've seen virtually no bipartisanship when it serves the interest of human citizens (esp those that are the least among us - children, elderly, disabled)"

That's exactly then point that too often gets missed or ignored.

This is not about 10-Point programs or so-called "unity." It's about rebalancing the scales (as you put it) on the side of the people.

32. Wm Greider's new article in The Nation. Edwards got there firstest and bestest
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 11:13 AM by EVDebs
Worsening Economy Gives Obama and Hillary a Chance to Copy Edwards' Populist Ideas
by William Greider, TheNation.com. Posted January 14, 2008

""John Edwards was out front with aggressive anti-recession proposals in early December. Act now, he said, don't wait for the official announcement. First, Congress should put up at least $25 billion to stimulate job creation and be ready to spend another $75 billion as things get worse. Spend the money on "clean energy" infrastructure, the housing crisis, reform of unemployment insurance, aid programs to help families get through hard times and other wounds. Get the money out to the folks who will spend it right now and to public works projects that can create new jobs quickly.

Nothing fancy in the Edwards package, just the old-fashioned, meat-and-potato politics that used to make Democrats the party of working people. In the scale of what's happening to the economy, I think his proposals are too modest. Bill Gross, the insightful managing director of PIMCO, the major bond-investment house, has called for virtually doubling the federal deficit in order pump hundreds of billions into new economic activity. When bond holders are more alarmed about the economy than political leaders, you know something is backwards in American politics.

Edwards, alas, probably restrained the size of his stimulus package to convince the media gatekeepers he is not wacko and thus win some coverage for his forward thinking. No such luck. Edwards has his own shortcomings, but he has been victimized by the shallow political culture that empties meaning from presidential campaigns. The press early on consigned him to the "populist" stereotype and largely ignored the serious content of his agenda.""

http://www.alternet.org/stories/73640/

Vote Edwards on Feb 5th in CA and avoid these other two 'johnny-come-lately's' to the economics issue. With the recession deepening, maybe instead of HRC and BO supporters demanding JE drop from the race, maybe Edwards supporters should start making similar demands from these two who would only be stealing from the Edwards agenda regarding the economy. The original is the best, not "copycats".

36. Edwards for the working people
I to am an Edwards supporter. I supported him the first time
and i will again.
THe problems i have with the other two candidates is simple;
Clinton first, for all the good her husband did lets look at
some of the dumb things. First was of course NAFTA, what a
failure this was. How many jobs have we lost because of this.
There was a bill before him that would have done away with the
Right to work laws in this country. This would have allowed
workers to more easily form Unions without the abuse of
Employers. He sat on it and would do nothing. Ms. Clinton
tried to work on health care while her husband was President
but gave it up why? Because of pressure from big
pharmaceuticals and health care industries. WHy should we
think she wouldn't cave again on the side of big business.
As for Obama, he has the support of Oprah Winfrey and every
other rich corporate type in this country that want to have
decent values. The problem with this is simple, you are rich
and the average American is not. He simply states we need
change. No S---! A blind man can see we need change.
I want to see three things addressed by the next president.
1. STop the bleeding of jobs leaving America. Punish countries
and companies for not adhering to trade agreements. I will go
one step farther do away with trade agreements. The other
countries aren't going to abide by them why should we. If a
company is selling a product in this country they should have
a factory here building that product.
2. Health care for everyone: I think everyone has seen the
problem here. Just show us a plan that everyone can afford and
covers everyone equally.
3.Bring our troops home: As a Veteran it hurts me to see
almost 4000 Americans have given their lives for what? I dint
think any of them died in vane, however it is time to bring
the rest home before more have to die. If Iraq cant stand on
it's own by now it never will.

has been laid off from jobs twice already (he refused to go to college)both jobs in the computer industry.
He's basically self-taught, has great work ethic, lives and breathes computers. I was joking with him the other night saying maybe he should apply for a job in India...and then we turned our attention to whether
he's thought seriously about trying to get into Canada.

I really worry for both kids.

who would ever have believed that US insurance companies would pay for ppl to have their medical procedures abroad????
who would ever have believed that your X-rays would be read overseas????

I used to think that only nursing couldn't be outsourced...but now Japan is/has developed a nurse robot.

No one is safe as long as companies can with tax benefit move work overseas.

for what it's worth I voted for Edwards in NH. I work for a company who provide lighting and sound for events so I have seen Clinton, Obama, and Edwards several times. I like all three very much and will be happy with any of them as our next President. But I chose Edwards because he was the only candidate who makes the fight against poverty and the fight for the middle class the priorities they should be.

Either way, at least it will better than Bush's fight for poverty and fight against the middle class.

63. Edwards Is The Only Major Platform Caring For Working Poor
...this is why I am for Edwards. I think he is being blacklisted because of his stands against corporations ~ and the corporate media is one of the ones blocking his voice. I love Obama, but the "get along" stuff bothers me. Low income people have been trying to "get along" with the rich and elite for a long time and what has it gotten us? Lower wages, no chance of advancement, demonizing of poor mothers with no support, parentless children (both parents working two jobs to pay the rent with no childcare or help, especially with older children who need guidance), jobs going overseas, no healthcare, hunger, and higher homeless rates. And we are the ones who contribute more of our income to taxes, the poor almost 20% of their income. Meanwhile the rich pay a percentage amounting to little or none so Paris Hilton can buy a $1000.00 purse.

What is wrong with this picture?

Here is a pol you can take that will tell Californians what the rest of Americans are considering. Please choose Edwards and then pass it on wherever you can: http://www.pickyourpresident.org/?Poll%3A_Democrats
