People need to realize polls this far out don't mean a lick, because most of America is still not following the race all that closely. When the race does heat up, after the convention, the dirty politics will begin and that will almost certainly drive up Hillary's unfavorable ratings. If she's almost at 50% right now, where will she be after a couple of months of the GOP machine? Probably well into the 50s and limping.

The thing that works for the Republicans, outside maybe Giuliani and Romney, is that they'll start lower than Hillary in their unfavorable ratings. So while they too will rise, it won't come nearly as close to Clinton's numbers. How can we expect to win the election IF over 50% of Americans do not like Clinton?

13. It's also possible that they'd see her (or any candidate) battling the GOP candidate
and it'd improve their opinion, rather than lower it.

11. I'll say this about ANY Democratic candidates...
As long as they get elected, I don't care if 100% of the people who vote against them have an unfavorable opinion. After 8 years of George W. Bush, I'm not feeling real conciliatory.

Because that will likely be the case if we make the mistake of nominating her.

37. They are tied in that poll when you factor in the margin of error
I would only rate either Clinton or Obama as slight favorites to beat McCain. Of course a lot can happen between now and November, but we had better not be too over confident if McCain is the nominee.

That's why I agree that Dems in Michigan should vote for Romney in order to help stop McCain's momentum. If we can get anyone else but McCain then we very well might have a much better chance in November.

It seems that it's your presentation of facts that we have a problem with.
Granted that is your fault, but we have hope that you can still change. So we don't attack you, per se.
Your technique, however, is fair game.

"I Reported What I Saw Contemporaneously Hence The Lack Of A Link"

I figured that was the case.
But can you not see how you heard and reported only the portion of the story which appealed to you?

22. McCain is tied with Hillary and Obama
The Republican candidate who gives Clinton and Obama the closest race in the new poll is Arizona Sen. John McCain, who is essentially tied with both: He draws the support of 48 percent of those surveyed to Clinton's 50 percent and Obama's 49 percent.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/12/poll.matchups/index.html

Because this falls well within the margin of error, all three of them are in a virtual tie.

I had the bad luck of having the S.O.B. as my Senator for the past 10 years when I lived in Phoenix. I tell you all..A vote for that low life is a vote for Bush's policies. You want more of the same? Vote for McCain. If it happens I am leaving the country. Because Fascism will continue here and it will be worse under This Man.

24. I don't understand this part.
Clinton leads the front-running candidates of both parties -- Obama, McCain, Giuliani, Huckabee and Romney -- in the percentage of voters who say they would definitely vote for her if she won her party's nomination, with 37 percent. But she trails the pack in the percentage of voters who do not support her, but say they might consider voting for her under those circumstances, with 19 percent.

So if she wins the nomination they will vote for her, if she is not only 19% will vote for her?

35. I think it means her "cap" of possible voters is at 56 percent: 37% support + 19% possible support.
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 03:56 PM by farmboy
The "possible support" are those who do not currently support her to be the dem candidate but might if she becomes the dem candidate.

They break it down into three categories. Will definitely vote for, might vote for, and definitely won't vote for. Hillary leads in the first category but is behind in the second.
