How about a discussion of how Bloomberg could save the GOP's ass in 08?
A Bloomberg candidacy -- what would it mean? More votes taken from the Democrats than from the GOP? After all, people who feel disgusted with the Repugs now haven't much choice except the Democrats. Could Bloomberg weaken the dynamic of the debates, and then draw away more votes from the Democrats than the Repugs, as some suggest?

What is the view out there among DUers?

2. Yes, I think you're exactly right.
Those who say otherwise... well, it's just wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Maybe 10 or 20 years ago someone like Bloomberg would have taken more Republican votes, but not now. I'm afraid that a lot of the growth of the Democratic party has been for the very reason you mention; the other big party is so completely whacko. A lot of the voters who went Democratic in '06 (and possibly even '00 and '04), simply didn't like the Republicans - not because of strong Democratic party values.

3. Suppose both Bloomberg and Ron Paul ran Independent campaigns.
Does that even things out again?

I agree with your premise. I think a Bloomberg campaign would hurt us way more than them and a Paul candidacy does the opposite.

I think a four way like that would be interesting. Dangerous, but interesting.

5. I was checking TV channels, Glenn Beck Show CNN
a reporter was telling him that since Obama is running as
a Centrist, that diminishes the need for a Bloomberg win.

7. I don't see a scenario where that happens
It fracture the GOP too much might give OBAMA a couple of southern wins albeit by plurality only.

8. I think the disgust on the repub side
Translates into them looking for anyway out and idf bloomberg jumps in they will turn to him. Dems on the other hand as a whole are pretty satisified with our field. They may or may not be totaly on board with the our nominee but the disgust will not be there that the Pukes have.
