I like it when DUers stick up for Democrats.
I especially like it when a DUer sticks up for one presidential candidate, even though they support a different candidate. That's cool. It makes me smile.

Having myself observed all the Democratic primary candidates over the last year or more, I guess I just really have a hard time believing that any of them sucks. I know, I've read all the criticisms. But still. They just seem like pretty decent people who want to make this country a better place. I'm looking forward to voting for one of them someday.

That is all.

10. I'm voting for one of them......
.......too bad I can't figure out how to vote for all of them. I share your sentiments. I'm not locked in to anyone of them yet, but dayum! Obama is like a phenomona, an Obamana, if you will. John Edwards makes so much sense and leads one to believe he will
truly champion the cause of the middle class, which is slowly disappearing. Clinton, well just seeing a female president would be a good reason to vote for her, but she is also very intelligent and knows the inner-workings of the Whitehouse.

We win either way! A bit different than the last two elections we have suffered through. I just can't fathom a republican even coming close this round. We hold all the good cards! Aces every one!

18. It's a tough balance...
I believe we SHOULD be able to have open debate and criticism of the various candidates. The problem comes in when we get carried away (it happens to most of us at some point, myself included) and make it personal.

This stuff can be incredibly frustrating and it's good to have threads like this to remind us we have a LOT more in common than we do differences. Hmm, maybe we need aliens to invade (like in Independence Day) or a conservative troll to unite us? :)

For a while there it felt like the wheels were falling off of this thing! (sarcasm) Edited to say...Did it bother you that all of the Democratic candidates were not included in the debates that you watched? I am all for cheer leading but one has to admit that there are some big problems in the Dems approach to this election. And please don't tell me that it is in the medias hands. Good Democratic candidates would not proceed with the debate if all candidates were not included. I am a Democrat who holds this party to standards. I do not feel bad for expressing a position that needs to be heard. More should speak out here. That is the good thing about this place. We can strive to do the right thing for this country that needs us so badly. Peace, Kim

Skinner, thank you and your helpers for providing this tremendous site so we can argue, etc. I find respectful arguing (or debating)is very educational.

Speaking of debating, is it possible to hold online DU member debates for the candidates? I am not sure how to work it but then I am not the genus here.

Isn't it possible that conflict and the absence of comity are responsible for the high turnout on our side? However marginal the differences really are. However ultimately palatable all of the top three might be, people become energized when they feel something is at stake. It is distasteful, but if it mobilizes people, I guess I can tolerate it.

I've been reading DU a lot lately as my project at work is on hold and it would be rude to whip out a book in front of everyone and read that. But there is a powerful undercurrent of negativity on this site. It's up to each of us at the individual level to refuse to be sucked down to that level. I applaud anyone who has positive things to say about any of our Dems. Yes, obviously constructive criticism is healthy for democracy when it's honest, but I have a hard time believing that any of our candidates are monsters or will do anything terribly bad to any of us if elected(not even Hillary).

That would be the reason why I haven't been able to throw my hat into any person's corner.

There great things about all of them - which makes it very hard for me to choose. What a great position in which to be! :bounce:

Now, if Gore suddenly decides to run (one can hope, right? ) I am abandoning all other Dems. Sorry! :D

81. My sentiments exactly!!
We should be so proud of each and every one of them. The media is paying attention to all of our great Dems too because they know there is going to be one in the White House really soon!! Yippee! I don't even care which one it is because I know we will finally get something done to get our country back. The most important thing is to get someone in there who will care for those who are in need get us out of Iraq and to restore our rights. Thanks for the pep talk Skinner. You are so right.

82. Agree 100%, I don't understand all the infighting. We MUST stick together...
especially when we get a nom. So it is not my first choice or even my second choice, the person will have a (D) by his or her name and that's what matters.

We need to be more supportive of all of our candidates instead of directing so much hate towards a candidate we don't support.

I'm feeling very glum because my candidate isn't doing too well but that doesn't mean I won't support whomever wins.

Thanks for the post.

84. It's their job to make you think that
they're decent people, so you can't look at them for that answer.
I hate to be a party pooper, but you have to investigate them and their voting record to see who owns them and if they will act in YOUR best interest.

Go on, flame away, but I am deeply dismayed by the three people who have the best chance.

Although I can't find the quote right now, that Mcgovern said today that dick and shrub are both far more deserving of impeachment than Nixon ever was.

Again way off the point of this thread.

91. hmmm
SS has failed. Yes, it has failed because of plundering, not the idea, but it has failed. The IRS... don't even get me started.

btw, did you know that any income over 90K is SS exempt.

As I said I'm a Dem, but the Dem's have failed us. I do not know the answer. I do not claim to have the solution. I know that the Dem's we have now are not it.

Flame me, go right ahead. I'm sure it will help.

94. It is not exempt, that is where the cap is. And removing the cap is
is a simple way of fixing the problem. You are right about the plundering. Ron Paul is a libertarian. You may fall in there too. I'd like to start you up on the IRS. What is your solution?

98. This is not the correct thread for that problem
Our problems are far greater than the SS or the IRS. As the only thought I'll drop here on the IRS...

Until we fix the current problem with the "corporation" we can not correct the many problems with the IRS. Until the corporation loses its status as an "individual" granted all the rights that the constitution offers a genuine citizen, we will continue to remain doomed.

I fight with all the DU'ers... We've had our issues, but I fight WITH you for the most part.

I am terribly disappointed with the outcome of our early primaries though. ditto goes for our available candidates. This seems like the same empty promises that 2006 has given us.

I am not a Hillary supporter in any way but the sexist comments that are allowed here are amazing!!! They would never be allowed if they were comments about a person's skin color or sexual orientation but having a vagina makes one fair game.
