Huckabee often called out fanatical conservative Repukes, leaving them on the fringe.
And he beat them more often than not, infuriating the conservative base in Arkansas, and winning Democratic and Independent support in the state.

We underestimate this guy at our peril.

1. He only appeals to those that want Theocracy...
for every fruitcake among Dems and Independents that want that, there are several Republicans that don't.

2. Point well made; I wonder how he finesses that issue; I'm sure he's got an answer for it.

But I think his appeal goes broader than that. To be Governor of the same state almost as long as Bill Clinton, he had to reach out.

3. Then you're underestimating his support.
Wanting someone who seems sincere, and 'straight talks', while not being afraid of being upfront with his faith, has an appeal. You don't have to be a theocrat to be down with that. You just have to be disillusioned with the current slate of candidates and the current administration.

8. If folks haven't figured out....
That going giddy over "straight talk" and admiring being upfront about "faith" is what brought us George Bush, then this country is going to get exactly what it deserves.

4. At first I thought he was scary, then I thought he was
beatable, now I'm back to scary. We should not underestimate him. Personally, I'm hoping for Mittens he would be the easiest to take down.

6. Fuckster Has Me Scared Enough to Consider Crossing Over to Vote Against Him
If we're down to Hillary and Obama by Super Tuesday, it becomes more important to cross over and vote against Fuckster, because neither of them can beat him!

7. We heard it all before with Bush.
Remember "compassionate conservatism"? That thing that had to be modified with the word "compassionate" because everyone openly knows it isn't? Huckabee has been reckless in his administration as much as Bush has been. Bush took credit for reforms in Texas that were started by Ann Richards and this guy is no different.

You'll hear the talk about "healing the country" and "reaching out to others because we have a big enough tent for everyone" right before hearing "my way or the highway" or "bring them on", blaming everyone (including people in their own party at times) who doesn't buy their agenda for all sorts of ills.

The blame would include everything from poverty and a broken health care system to broken families, crime, and wars on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter and I guarantee it would be repeated ad-nauseum that all those things would be due to "tax and spend liberals" because they "don't profess faith in the Almighty God".
