I don't remember ever being this nervous before Iowa
'92- I was too young
'96- Clinton had it in the bag
'00- I didn't think Bradley was a credible threat
'04- I was a Clarkie all the way, and was sure that the Presidency was going to go through New Hampshire. I remember reading great significance into the Dixville Notch results (Clark won). Iowa didn't phase me in the slightest.

Tonight though, holy shit, I feel like I'm about to go sky diving or something.

8. I love that it's a three-way clusterf*ck.
I think it's fabulous.

It's the best thing for democracy and for the Democratic Party.

And the end of an error 1/20/09.

3. Me too!!! I want anyone but Hillary... and i want Hillary in third
I hate to say that, but she is just far to polarizing for the general and is wrong on foreign policy i.e. Iraq and Iran...

Obama then Edwards the for me, Biden

6. I'm not nervous.
I'm patiently waiting to put all my support behind the eventual nominee. You folks that are hell bent on one candidate this early are foolish, imo.

14. This is what I mean. I don't agree with her on issues
to me she is wrong on the war and wrong on Iran and has engaged in dirty politics and for that reason, I can't vote for her. I don't call that "hating". I don't hate her at all. I disagree with her on the important substantive issues. There is a very big difference.

The fact that you don't see that is the reason why I have a hard time with Clinton supporters

20. "she is wrong on the war and wrong on Iran and has engaged in dirty politics"
"she is wrong on the war and wrong on Iran and has engaged in dirty politics"

That's a curious answer. I mean, I agree with some of it -- wrong on the war and wrong on Iran. It's curious because Barack Obama isn't much better, is he? He plans to keep a huge number of soldiers in Iraq indefinitely, as an occupying force; he didn't show up to vote against the Kyl-Lieberman vote on Iran; he has spread complete lies about his detractors and his rivals.

For the record, I'm supporting Edwards. A couple of months ago I was undecided, but Barack Obama's dirty politics alienated me completely.

...and if it's any consolation, so are many, many Iowans.

She'll come in third, if she's lucky.

Bet on it.

10. Nah, theres nothing wrong with getting behind someone in the primarys
The candidates are different, no matter what the cliches say, and its good to believe in something.

16. The primaries are for supporting your dream candidate
and opposing those who don't thrill you.

The GE is for making sure the Democrat wins the WH, so we get the entire executive branch of government back. And the Supreme Court.

11. I'm feeling kind of burnt out
A little excited, but nothing like 04. This primary season started much too soon, and Gore kind of let me down.

I'm fairly confident the Dem candidate is going to win this time, regardless of who it is. If the GOP had a viable candidate I'd be worried.

I feel like I did the night I was waiting up to see if Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize! Almost like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!

21. it's true... a kind of nervous dread
one of "IS this what our democracy has resolved to?"

a field of wholly unexciting candidates except for one (Kucinich), and he's the one nobody thinks is electable even if he captures the sentiments of the majority of america...

the rest are as blatantly sell out as you can get for the climate of a country who's entire democracy has been sold to corporate america, lock stock and barrell.

i kinda wish we could see a REAL DARK HORSE write in candidate in ohio or something completely out of left field.

that would be exciting.

22. I am no longer nervous
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 10:16 PM by Bellator
I was very nervous up until a couple of days ago. Now I am ready for this to be over. I will go to the caucus tomorrow night....do my best and whatever turns out....turns out. I think the thing that helps is the fact that I've never been involved in a caucus with so many good candidates. I can understand how people are having a hard time with this. Everyone one of these candidates has very positive attributes.
The thing that I also think made my nervousness go away was the fact that I picked out my candidate so much earlier than normal. For me personally ...it was an easy choice.
Honestly...I was more nervous in 2004...I didn't really choose a candidate until less than a week before the caucus.

26. Clark died in Iowa
as soon as Kerry won, in no small part because he was a veteran, I knew it was over for Clark. As a Clarkie, I was nervous as hell about Iowa and hoping Dean would win so Wes could go up against him on national security. By the time Dean was done with his Night Train routine, it was really all over.
