Can we make a pact?
No matter what happens tomorrow nite . . . we celebrate the winners?
Even if it's not our candidate?

No rubbing it in...
No slamming the winners ....

Can we just take 24 hours to think how we are going to proceed as a party?

Back in 2004, I made a bet with a Republican. When Kerry conceeded, I was devastated. I cried all day.
That Republican asked me to pay up while I was in this emotional state. All I could say was - couldn't you at least give me 24 hours to come to terms with this?

Some of us are going to be ecstatic!
While some of us are going to be pretty upset.

Can we just be a supportive family for 24 hours?

1. I'm selling tyvek jumpsuits with face shields and depends. I don't expect to see
any civility tomorrow. NONE. I wonder if Ishould get some sort of protector for my . I don't think blood, guts, and brains go great with popcorn.

2. It'd be nice, but I'm going to guess the answer to your question is, no, we can't be supportive.
If anything, the mood at DU got much worse, not better, after Kerry won Iowa in 2004.

3. OK, but I have one more thing for your list
1). No rubbing it in...
2). No slamming the winners ....

and

3). Let everyone celebrate the winner in their own way and in their own timing. No lectures about why it was "the right decision." That's just a kinder, gentler version of rubbing it in. There's going to be a tendency for some people to inform everyone about how they were "right"...maybe being "right" isn't the most important thing on the plate right now.

9. I'm not going to be holding my breath, but yes, it would be great.
I anticipate what I like to call "ALL CAPS VICTORY LAPS."

Good luck with the inevitable flame wars, mods!

15. Oh, yeah the Kerry supporters were so fucking gracious.
The bitterness continued all the way through the election and into the election for the new DNC Chair.

It was awful.

... I wasn't totally bummed.

14. I, too, was devastated when Kerry conceded.
I'll never forget it. I'd taken the day after the election off because I was certain I'd be hungover from the victory celebration. I read here that a lot of DU members were planning to go to Ohio, and I was ready to go, too, to fight for our votes. When Kerry gave his concession speech, I felt like the air had been taken out of my body.

I hope DU members will be civil on Friday. But I wouldn't bet on it.

I've been asking for that all along. If we don't come together as a party, we have no chance in November. But just seeing the way it is now I doubt it.
