5. Trepidation
because they'll fight him tooth and nail the same way they fought Carter and Clinton. He might be in Congress, but he's not an insider.

They'd make damned sure nothing got done.

12. Celebrate...
And then watch all of the "Support the nominee whoever it is" start to explain why they won't.

Dennis would still win the general, and the party establishment would fight him every step of the way while he was president.

16. Kucinich is the only Democrat I will not vote for.
His Dept of Peace proposal shows me that he is naive and stupid, and he would be eaten alive by people without his ethical sense - that is, every world leader except Dennis.

He's a dangerous man, but he's unlikely to win the nomination or election.

18. No - ALL the other Democratic candidates act like true Democrats.
Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 07:29 PM by robcon
Kucinich is simple-minded and naive, IMO. He's a "the good is the enemy of the perfect" type (as his voting record shows.) He'd be an awful president, and a danger to the country in that position.

I think your feeling that he is a TRUE Democrat is undermined by the fact that he's the preference of about 1% of true Democrats (those who vote) for the presidential nomination.

edit:spell

And which "defense" contractor do you work for?

That's the only reason I could imagine anyone making such a ridiculous statement.

28. Kucinich would be a danger to the U.S. if he were president.
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 09:04 AM by robcon
His simple-minded (read his Dept of Peace proposal) foreign policy is the best evidence that he's too stupid to be president.

I see you didn't answer my main contention - all the Democratic candidates are "real" Democrats, and are ACTING like real Democrats, although Kucinich's incredibly low voter preference puts some doubt in his Democratic Party credentials.

What do you think - are the more 'popular' Democratic candidates not "real" Democrats, or are their policy differences with DK evidence they are not ACTING like "real" Democrats - or are 99% of Democratic voters that don't prefer Kucinich not "real" Democrats either?

Does everyone who disagrees with you (or Kucinich) not acting like a real Democrat?

22. Kucinich was a pretty bad mayor, and would probably be a pretty bad president
but even if Ron Paul was his vp, Kucinich would be better than any ticket the Republicans are going to offer up.

that Kucinich was a weak mayor, that he would be a weak president, but I would still vote for him if he was our nominee.
Have you changed your "If Saint Denny isn't nominated we are doooooooooooomed" broken record yet? :eyes:

25. You must have a different definition of "utopia" than most.
If it's "Utopian" to think that we can elect a candidate free of DLC corruption and corporatist allegiances for a change, then call me Todd fucking Rundgren.

27. I am more concerned of imagining Kucinich in a true global crisis.
They have existed before and will exist again. I don't think the so-called WoT is a real crisis in the sense of a WWI or WWII, but I don't think we can afford to take the risk a crisis doesn't occur. Similarly, a severe economic crisis is beyond Kucinich's ability to handle. I just don't think he could handle adversity.

30. the problem for DK, same as in '04
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 09:14 AM by book_worm
is here is a guy who will probably run fourth in his homestate. If somebody can't even carry their homestate in a primary then they can't win a national election. I have no idea what state DK is working on to make a decent showing in. If he was serious about being the Dem nominee he needs to have a beach-head where he says, "I'm going for broke here" and camp out there. Some early state. So, I don't take his candidacy seriously. I think he runs simply to give himself a platform (and maybe try to influence the platform) and like in '04 he will stay in the race til the end and win nowhere. It seems to me too that he isn't running even as well this time as he did in '04. For one thing Ron Paul is stealing his thunder. The media is concentrating on him as the anti-war, anti-establishment candidate. Paul is pulling in tons of money on the internet and when DK tried to do something similar it was an embarrassing bust.

Oh, that said if hell froze over and he did get the nomination I would vote for him over any repubican.
