Wolf--CNN Just reported that Obama said...
If he doesn't win in Iowa?(this year?), he won't run again. The first thing that came to my mind was;

"Take me to bed, or lose me forever:

LOL....

Why would he say such a thing??

“We’re not going to keep running and running and running, because at some point you do get the life beaten out of you. It hasn’t been beaten out of us yet," she tells the magazine. "We need to be in there now, while we’re still fresh and open and fearless and bold. You lose some of that over time. Barack is not cautious yet; he’s ready to change the world, and we need that.”

I should add: not that I'm agreeing with this position, just saying the OP mischaracterized the statement

of course you get the crap beaten out of you...but, it also makes me wonder what he would do, should he not be the nominee, but instead, have a chance as VP? Does that mean that 4/8 years down the road, he wouldn't run again for POTUS?

I am sick and tired of the Hillary Attack Machine. It is not necessary to be THAT negative about the personal character of a candidate. If you can show how your candidate is better, that should be enough. It is this attitude that turns off a lot of people to politics. It is childish too. There is not a candidate on either side that deserves to be insulted in the way you just did. I am only saying this because there is a chance your candidate will win the nomination. She would have an almost impossible task of winning in November, so she would need all the help she could get. People supporting her by negative crap just turns off people from your candidate, which means the Reps would be more likely to win through your efforts, and also gives them justification for throwing the same sort of mud at your candidate. So, if you get your jollies by bashing Democrats, you are only hurting your candidate. But please get over yourself before the general election. I am also sick and tired of losing.

48. you may not realize this
but your responses to me have been much more childish, negative and full of attack-like language than anything I've written in this Thread.

I'm simply stating a fact about my nephew and what he and his friends would and would not say. If he or one of his friends said, in effect, "if I don't win, then I'm going home and never playing again", they'd laugh at him! If you find that upsetting, that's something you need to look at. But to try and equate the few words I've offered and which you've responded to as some part of a "Hillary Attack Machine" is confusing at best.

If an Obama Supporter gets this angry and this out-of-control over what an 8 year old would or wouldn't choose to say, what in the hell will they do if he makes it to the General and the MSM and the Repuglicans start slamming him with body blows and Swift Boating?

Madigan and Hynes (and their fathers in the old Dem power system) have considerable weight, as does Obama. That's a three-way bloodfest, assuming Blagovich doesn't try running again. (I don't think he could get away with it) And Quinn may get in it, too.
I'd love any one of them as Governor, but I wouldn't want to be taking punches all day working the race.

I think Obama stays in the Senate.

It's a better job than Governor around here. The governorship in Illinois is where politicians go to be indicted.

One cannot argue that Obama is not bright, is not a good potential presidential candidate, and if he loses this time, he has youth on his side and can always run again.

If he wins, this conversation is academic. And, he stands a good chance.

Frankly, I'm not surprised anyone would say this prior to Iowa. You're in it to win it. Just like asking someone if they would accept a VP slot. DOn't ask them that until they're out of the running for the big gig.

awful toll a Presidential campaign takes on a candidate AND his family. I can fully understand Michelle not wanting to go through this again. I don't know how Edwards can deal with potentially losing TWICE, after working like a dog and pouring heart and soul into campaigning.
