Poppy Bush was EVERYBODY'S coke dealer in the 70s and 80s.
Obama needs to DEMAND the books be opened on IranContra cocaine so he can track back to exactly how the few grams of cocaine he sampled as a teenager was part of the TONS of cheap IranContra cocaine that was being DUMPED BY THE TONS into cities all over the country, and especially the targeting of black communities as part of Poppy Bush's CIA drugrunning operations that went on for decades.

BET documentary series, American Gangster, has an entire episode based on the Gary Webb report from 1996 of CIA drugrunning that ended up on LA streets.

I hope Obama USES this opportunity to demand those books be re-opened. Then let's hear what the Republicans and the Bushes have to say about those books that they would prefer remain closed.

Please note:
For those unaware of the facts surrounding Poppy Bush's involvement, you might have heard about the LIES told by the RW that it was Clinton's operation - Clinton was NOT running coke out of Mena Airport. Poppy Bush was, and the freeper minds twisted the story to pretend that it was all about Clinton. Clinton was just a governor of the state that Poppy Bush used for his CIA drugrunning. No doubt Poppy would have told him to keep his law enforcement people out of CIA business just as they undoubtedly did with other governors in Florida and California back then.

3. Well, he certainly didn't do the drugrunning the way the RW has claimed in their efforts
to distract from Poppy Bush's TOPMAN ROLE in that operation.

4. Two major investigations
couldn't come up with a shred of credible evidence against Bill. The whole thing about Bill and Mena was a right wing kook story sponsored by Richard Mellon Scaife.

9. The RW version was wrong deliberately to smear Bill. But the Senate hearings were RIGHT.
Mena DID happen. And if a governor didn't KNOW anything at all about it, then Poppy Bush who was in charge of the operation must have forgotten to warn him that he needed to use that airport for his operations and that the governor's law enforcement people needed to stay clear.

15. The RW may have been barking up the wrong tree...

I suspect Hillary's law firm had more to do with Arkansas corruption than anything Bill was doing. Is it true that her father had something to do with airport operations in Chicago?

8. Wasnt there an Ex CIA plane that just crashed with tons of...
drugs on it? Also, since its most likely that our government actually control the drugs that come into the country, why did they give Blackwater a $15 billion contract to fight the war on drugs? Blackwater already expanded their facility in North Carolina and now they are building a large training facility in California, why are they trying to train up so many mercenaries, what are they really going to do to earn that $15 billion?

I wonder what our government has in store for us, will it be exciting and new?

10. Yes - last Sept. Does anyone believe that Poppy Bush woke up one day in Jan 1993
and decided to STOP running drugs and illegal arms just because he no longer was in the White House?

Hell - he just went underground and privatized their operations and had enough loyalists at the CIA to let it continue.

16. Coke was the "white man's" drug of choice for a very very long time
It was way too expensive for your average black community. Along comes the 80's and crack cocaine that could be sold at rock bottom prices. Why even the very poorest person could afford it.

I do believe that crack cocaine was made available at those low bargain basement prices to lure away the people who smoked pot. Pot prices soared in the 80's, while crack cocaine was dirt cheap.

There is a method to their madness.

Do you remember Poppy reporting on national TV, him sitting behind his desk in the Oval office and his bag of cocaine, and how someone within his admin bought it across the street in the park. Yeah, right Georgie. He probably got it from one of his coke addicted sons.

20. BLM,
I agree that the Contra drug running has never been acknowledged to the degree it should have been. That the CIA turned its head and allowed cocaine into the country to illegally buy arms for right wings thugs, guilty of massacres and killing Jesuit priests in the country to help people is not my view of what America is or was. It is not clear the Governor actually knew the details - he likely was told it was CIA and he was to stay away - but it's hard to believe he was completely oblivious. Some governor have acted as a whistleblowers, because this was really, really wrong, but that would take a hero, willing to risk his political viability to demand America stand for its real values - but Clinton was never known as a hero and he actually was pro-contra.

Even in 2004, when everything was known and he had already been a two term President, he still had no outrage that his buddy ,GHWB, and the CIA intentionally brought drugs into his poor state. In fact, it is interesting that in his autobiography that he had kinder words for a 1980s era Justice department lawyer who stonewalled Kerry's committee on this than he had for Kerry, who as the Democrat - he supported for re-election. One would think that he would have been grateful that Kerry's persistence played a role in exposing and stopping this.

But, you are wrong in binging Obama's history into this. He was born in 1961, meaning he likely graduated high school in 1978 or 1979, before Reagan took office.
