Concerned Hillary camp looking to dig up dirt on Obama, as revealed in deputy campaign manager email
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 10:10 PM by jefferson_dem
The email looks as if it was typed by a toddler. What kind of hired help is Hillary working with?

EDIT: A caveat. I'm not so sure this shit isn't a hoax. I can't imagine things are this bad in the Hillary camp.

Obama, Under the Clinton Microscope
By Jeff Zeleny

DES MOINES – Presidential campaigns have unlimited appetites for information about their rivals. They track their whereabouts, they study their records and they obsessively follow nearly every movement. By this point in the race, though, it would seem a candidate’s work history would have already been sufficiently combed through.

Apparently not.

If there was any question whether Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign was concerned about the rise of Senator Barack Obama, here is a fresh example: A deputy campaign manager for Mrs. Clinton sent an e-mail yesterday, trying to find out about Mr. Obama’s background as a community organizer in Chicago.

The deputy campaign manager is Bob Nash, who served as White House personnel director in the Clinton administration. In March, Mr. Nash left his position as vice chairman of Chicago ShoreBank to join Mrs. Clinton’s campaign.

Here is the text of his e-mail, with the addresses redacted:

From: Bob Nash
To:
Sent: Sun Dec 09
Subject: BARACK
HOW ARE YOU ?? I AM FIGHTING HARD >
SECOND ARE YOU PEERSONALLYAWARE OF TH EWORK BARACK DID ON THE SOUTH
SIDE WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION S , ETC ./. BOB
WHAT DI DHE DO AFORE HOW LONG AND WITH WHO ??
PLS TELL BOB HELLO BOB

Bob J Nash
Deputy Campaign Manager
Hillary Clinton for President Exploratory Committee
4420 N. Fairfax Drive
Arlington, VA 22203

Mr. Nash, 59, did not respond to an e-mail request seeking comment. A campaign official said he was unaware of the matter, but would look into it.

2. it's a crime now to ask questions?
Every campaign has opposition research teams. Yes, even Obama's campaign when an aide pressed reporters to investigate Bill Clinton's sex life. It's what campaigns do.

5. Of course, it isn't.
You have to wonder why they are doing such elementary oppo research at this late juncture? Unless they weren't exactly prepared for a real contest. Looks to me like a fishing expedition, desperately hoping to find some kind of dirt to slow down the Obama train.

... HOW ABOUT WE ALLT YPE LIKET iS THIS FREEPER LINGOO TOO? I"M SERIESS!!!11!

4. The Smear Job Continues
Now it's trying to attack Obama's work as a community organizer. Anybody want to bet that he's really asking if Barack stepped foot in a masque during that time?

Yes, it sure sounds like they're trying to follow up on that Republican freeper madrassa email. Fuck them!

6. Wouldn't they have done this six months ago?
I assume they all have checked each other out. Standard. What is weird is that they would be doing it now. It is getting a little late.

7. More evidence of a "not ready for prime time" Hillary campaign.
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 10:14 PM by jefferson_dem
This...from the much-heralded "experienced" professionals in the Hillary machine. More like a comedy of errors. I wonder when the shake-up is coming.

10. Opposition research is a necessary part of the campaign.
If skeletons lurk in the closets of ANY of the candidates, the time to find out about them is NOW -- not after someone has already been selected as our nominee.

This particular email doesn't sound nasty to me.

11. You mean Hillary is "mud-slinging"?
She scolded the other Dems not to engage in mud-slinging, but yet she's digging up dirt on Obama. I hope Obama calls her out on it.

15. The more desperate they get, the more desperate they NEED tl get, because
everything they're doing in their desperation is backfiring on them. I heard on Hardball last week (I think) one TH saying the Clintons never anticipated having to run against someone like Obama. They thought Edwards would be their only tough competition and were totally unprepared for Obama. Just like the Repubs. are totally unprepared to run against Obama. They thought (and still think, but less so as time goes on) that Hillary would be our nominee and they're totally prepared to run against HER.

16. So how are you going to spin this. Everyone knows what happened
but of course, it sounds better if the lie comes out that Hillary Clinton is the one who sent the emails. Oh yes...can't let it go with the truth, like the republican antics Obama's people pull the lies are coming thick and fast.

I bet there is plenty of crap out there about Obama but he isn't worth the trouble to google for it....he'll fade like character he is ..

I am just going to enjoy President Hillary Clinton.

I am ready for a snark remark about the NYT, but seriously... Why do you think it's a hoax?

19. It's too trivial to be a hoax. Who would bother with this as a hoax?
The content of the email is innocuous. Just someone doing some fact-checking. If anyone's campaign can't withstand this sort of research, then that person shouldn't be running for President.

What we don't dig up now we can be SURE the Rethugs will use against us in the general election. It's better to find out now if there are any skeletons buried in anyone's backyard.
