Dodd: Iowa slot at stake
Democratic presidential hopeful Chris Dodd, trailing in the polls and in campaign money, warned Iowa activists that if they succumb to “celebrity” candidates the state will risk losing its treasured spot at the beginning of the presidential nominating season.

“If this process becomes one where this state only chooses candidates based on celebrity and wealth, you’ll have a short run as a caucus state,” Dodd said. “This is no different than California and Michigan and Florida. People look to Iowans because you’ve always done this more deliberately.”

1. I think the media must shoulder a lot of blame in this. It is good for
voters to consider all our candidates as equal options.

The media landscape is aligned against that outcome.

2. I think, primaries should all be about the same time
maybe a month or two of each other. That way no one state would have a vote up on the rest. And that way, each candidate would have to visit each state and not stop and concentrate on just one. The only thing I find that I can't understand is that Iowa lets students register to vote, that don't live there. Maybe this fiasco of all those students being bussed in will cause them to change it. It makes Iowa look sort of hickish and not being able to control their voting process. Oh well we'll see.

3. When I was a college student I voted at my campus
It's been done this ways for decades in many states. It's only an issue now because of this particular campaign. It's unfair to make an issue of something that's been done for decades in states all acrosss the country.

5. It makes perfect sense for students
to vote where their school is. Most voting, including Iowa until this year, and the general election, takes place during the school year. Not allowing out-of-state students to vote would equal disenfranchising.

4. Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, and Biden
have all spent a great deal of time in Iowa--just as much as Dodd has.

Sorry, Chris, but they're just not that into you.
