Is it always this ugly in GD - Politics?
I spend most my time in GD and have been shocked at just how ugly it is getting here between Obama supporters/HRC supporters. I'm probably a little at fault, but when somebody attacks my candidate, I fire back. Is this just a normal afternoon in GD-politics?

5. You just got to learn how to ignore the weasels.
Something like 90% of posters are well mannered and sincere. The vast majority here respect other DUers right to disagree. That's a pretty good average for a website. For that matter, I'd bet pretty good money that strong majorities of both Clinton and Obama supporters here aren't being snarky toward one another.

I prescribe liberal application of the ignore button if you see someone being really vicious and irrational. It would take very little time to block out the useless few.

6. There are more vicious half truths about Democrats written here in GD-P every day then in a week at
freerepublic.

7. The closer it gets to the primaries, the worse it'll get.
'04 was pretty brutal around here. I think this cycle might actually be worse.

10. What I can't understand is why the Obama supporters continue
and ever lasting have to attack. They are not going to change minds. I was an Edwards supporter but the attacks got so outrageous against Hillary Clinton and I found my self defending her I changed my mind...wonder how many more did. The Obama supporters just had the opposite effect.

There is nothing wrong with Obama I just don't think he is the best candidate at this time. He is totally inexperience at anything to do with politics, I don't know how he gets on in the senate but he is immature. Look how he misses the vote he is number one outside Johnson from SD in missing votes.

13. I've learned to just ignore certain posters
All the candidates have their nasty supporters here.

Just ignore it is the only advice I can give.

15. it would be nice if DU had an 'offensive' vote
if a post was deemed offensive by x number of people, the post would be zapped and the poster would have posting privileges restricted (like the mods had to approve before it displayed to the rest of DU)

18. There is much more overt hate this time around than there has been...
over the past 8 years.

The followers of some candidates have made hate attacks on sites and individuals part of their routine.

Hate is more prevalent this time around. We used to actually have discussions/debates that stayed within bounds/and exchanges of information. More personal research on all candidates was done in the past.

21. I absolutely agree
There is very little talking politics anymore on this political discussion board. Anytime an actual exchange of ideas seems even possible it's cut off by disruption.

22. THIS Is The Way It's Been For Months & Months! Took Me A While To
deal with, now I see certain names and just KNOW what they will say. As I'm sure many know what I will say. Every once in a while I slip up and hit back, but mostly I don't like to trash, but will pump for my choice!

I have thought that some like to "bait" others and aren't really so rabid, but there are days that it's hard to tell for sure.
