UPDATE: Peter Daou, Clinton's Internet director, has addressed the suckering of Obama by Novak, if that's what it is. But given the track record it's not wrong to wonder. Seriously, who's actually swiftboating whom? It's not like Mr. Obama and his team haven't traveled in pushing this stuff themselves. But let's not forget Andrew Sullivan, who in the print copy of his Atlantic Monthly love letter to Obama offers this beauty: At a campaign event in Iowa, one of Obama's aides plopped down next to me. 1) Hsu and everyone associated with him gave something like $20,000 to Obama and $850,000 to Clinton. A magnitude of difference.

I think Obama should fire that aide - if he can get the identity. From another thread, that argued that Clark himself did not push the intern story, but Lahane, a top Clark official did is parallel to this. Obama, should note the even years later Clark was blamed - I doubt this unnamed aide was as high as Lahane, but it has the same backfire possibility. (In some ways it is less as they are saying investigate - not that something is really there.)
